  5. Sad news indeed, Rest in Peace Elizabeth after your long illness. I was going to suggest we organise a short trip especially aimed at the older Members, then I realised that most of us fit into that category. Charlie
  6. Thanks to Mick for joining me yesterday, even though the forecast showed a lot of rain possible and the tides were on the large side. 0800 at the boat and off we go to see what the sea state was like, it was a bit better than expected so we pushed out, to make the most of slack tide in 27 metres of water. For my first trip of 2026. Even though the wind was light there was still a big swell. We had a variety of baits out and it soon became apparent that most of the whiting had gone, while the weather was rough. The ones we did get were small and went back. The usual species started to nibble. Whiting, Pout and a few congers, then Mick had a couple of Blondes. Well done on getting them up on your whiting traces and 18lb traces. After the swing of tide I joined in with a nice Undulate that bounced the scales between 17lb 2oz and 19lb. I am happy to take the lower weight. At the end of 2025 I tried several places to get one of those, with no luck. Yesterday I had two.😁the second one weighed 9lb 8oz after three hours the tide beat us, [as expected] and we moved in. we tried half way to Swanage, but even though we were getting a few fish, the tide was ripping. Big weights are not really Micks thing so we moved again. finding a calmer spot on the edge of Swanage Bay. The usual doggies were about but no sign of the rays I had hoped for. One more move to the secret ray mark also proved fruitless. By 1600 it was lines up and run for home in fairly heavy rain. For Feb it had not been a bad trip. Great to be out fishing again and in good company, even on a very damp day. lets hope for better weather and calmer seas next time. The de humidifier is running hard today, trying to dry the cabin out.
  7. Plan changed a little to go on Sunday, in calmer weather with Mick. Plenty of room if anyone else wants to join us. First trip of the year for Alfresco
  8. Hi all I am keeping an eye on a slight window on Saturday and hope to get my first trip of 2026 in. Probably 50 50 area or a ray mark. Please get in touch if you fancy joining me Charlie
  9. Holes Bay is the worst area of the Harbour for the contaminated mud, from all the industrial and chemical businesses that used harbour water for cooling. Strangely it was a hotspot for flounder fishing, many winners of our annual comps came from North of Cobbs.
  10. Seals Cormorants and Bass have got to eat all of the tiny flounders in the harbour. Such a shame , it was a good fall back in the winter, when weather was foul
  11. Took me two weeks to recover Colin, I hope that yours is not so bad
  12. Great news Jerry Look forward to the report and pictures

    Madeira

Wendy and I have just booked a weeks holiday in Madeira in April Has anyone been there and if you have did you fish? Thanks Charlie
  14. Thanks Mal. I am sure once the weather settles and the fish start biting we will all feel a little happier. But kind words from friends are always a boost. Sharing great memories over a drink, including banter and taking the P~~~, are also a good remedy for the blues. you are a caring soul
  15. While I sit here waiting to get rid of an awfull bug, picked up at New Year. Wendy sent me a montage of January fish that popped up on her phone. I thought I would share it, in case anyone needed encouraging to get out, if weather allows. Not all pictures are from home waters. Lol Happy dangling all.
  16. Thanks Jim Happy Christmas everyone
  17. Was this the last trip of the year? Thanks Dave
  18. Well done everyone
  19. My one did too Allan. But it was only to cross my name off, due to a double booking.
  20. As suggested I had an early (very cold) start At the boat in the dark and slipped her berth at 7 Lovely weather for a run to the winter banks. And anchored up for the flood. Lines out and time for coffee Rods nodding from the off, doggie on one, small whiting on the other. That seemed to show that i was in the right spot. But that was one of only two whiting all day. That was not the same with the dogs, i had dozens of the bloody things. I thought of moving but then started to add a few congers and 3 small blonde rays. At noon i did have a short move, the same continued plus a Small Eyed. Weather picked up, so one more move further inshore, guess what more dogs. I decided to get the squid jigs out and have a go, but damn the breeze was cold, so i gave up after 30 minutes. Run in was simple and back on her berth before dark. Lots of fish , another good day But nothing to bother the catch report stats.
  21. Thanks Colin Looking forward to it, unfortunately Dave is working, but I will keep an eye out for any big fish. If I get small whiting I may pop a few in the live bait tank just in case
  22. Thanks May go early and not too far Steve
  23. Hi all There looks to be a possible weather window on Wednesday, so I may change my working days to fit another trip in Tides are nice for a trip to the 50/50 area for some rays and whiting, or maybe a bit further out for some Spurdogs and larger things dependant on the sea state anyone fancy joining me, pop your number on here or give me a text/Call Charlie
