    Tope

Hi all Yes Rich is right I have been taking part in this program for years but the bigger fish get rarer every year. best by a member this summer is 40lb. only fish over 10lb are deemed able to cope with the stress of tagging. I have an admiration of sharks of all species and would not wish to damage one, but do not mind weighing measuring and tagging them for the program. the process is quite simple and ken Collins is well keen to get interested people involved. I did get several packs which were spread around some of the Members of the Club but I am not sure if many bothered to use them and send the record cards in. When the pack tope are in attendance the fishing can sometimes be far to exciting to bother with the cards. although tagging and minimal info is better than nothing. I can give you more info or you can contact Ken via the website Charlie
  2. Great day to be afloat and nice to see a mixture of summer and winter fish about Jack/Andy I would love to take you up on the offer of a trip some time soon, so we can have a close look at the arvor 25 You may even put us on some winter fish Charlie

  5. A couple of the pollack
  6. Enjoyed the best of todays weather with a very nice trip to the French side of the channel on mats cracking boat Bliss 2 0700 saw me, both boys and Paul J meeting up with Matt, Dean and Matt's dad Fred to load up their evo 33 with all the gear for a late season wreck trip. A steady steam and a couple of cups of tea later saw us drifting a deep water wreck. on the first drift we were into small pollack and a few more drifts brought more small fish. Matt decided to try for better fish on another wreck 6 miles away, so after another cup of tea and a bit of filliting we again set up for a drift. this wreck seemed to hold better fish with Sam and I both getting better fish on the first drift. a few more pollack and a gurnard later the tide eased and we set the anchor to see if we could tempt somthing to come out of the wreck, the breeze at slack water was just enough to swing us about the wreck rather than where we aimed to be and at slack all we had were pout and LSD. [40 miles from home and bloody dogfish ] Dean then had a much better fish on, which resulted in a good Bull Huss of 11lb For the last of the slack we decided to slow drift the wreck, and Dean was again into another good Fish, this time a lovely cod of 17lb As Dean had never caught ether of these species before I think Chuffed would be an understatement. 1630 saw us start the long haul home with the lovely sunset seeing us rounding Durleston and the boat arriving on her mooring just after dark. Thanks matt for a great day on your boat, the boys and I really enjoyed it
  7. Have a great Birthday paul We hope that your trip on the big cat was a great success Charlie

  11. We had a look around on Sat really liked the new Rodman 770 but at 58K it is out of my league, I looked at the pheatons briefly then could not find them again later Avoided the redfins as the salesmen are arrogant and ignorant of even their boats. was amazed to see that the boats were hard aground at the bow at LW and the salesman were still just sat in the wheelhouse. I suppose the boat belongs to someone else. I spoke to the warrior chap and he hoped to have the bigger boat at the London show. Will be going back on Friday for a working breakfast at the show and another look around. After the show realised that if there is going to be a "Great White Too" it will have to be part built at home again. perhaps its time to have a closer look at Prodigy. Charlie
  12. Plenty of boats there to see and quite a few on the water The smaller boats seem to have access to the water at most times and I am sure if you were serious you could arrange a trial spin, we saw Warrior 165 and 175 and others doing demo runs, the cheeta cat was there not sure what other cats my advice woud be get there early, go and look on the inner pontoons before the rush and arrange a spin, prior to looking at the other interesting bits and pieces. I have just managed to get hold of six extra tickets at half price
  13. results as they stand so far Best Flatty 2lb Plaice Peter Russel Snr on Whistler Best Ray 24lb 4oz Blonde Alun Jones on Maverick well done lads and your skippers for putting you onto the fish Charlie
  14. Nice to the point answer Mr Chairman What species did you have in mind Kam?? Charlie
  15. Happy Birthday mate I have just seen this months BFM and your are equal third [6th at worst] with just a few contenders that could catch you, but by my reconing only three could overtake you so the worst you can do is actually equal 6th with two others[9th at worst] so a birthday present suitable for a trip to Guernsey may be called for. Well done to you again. great to see the Club represented in the final again Bad luck Billy who decided to compete in the weymouth matches, for his weymouth Club and is currently 11th Nice to see our Club represented so well 18th equal Peter Russell Snr 37th equal Paul Dore 40th equal Colin Moors and Gordon Moore Five anglers in the top 52 Well done lads Charlie

  18. Shame I do not have a faster boat so I could fish the Alderney banks for Turbot But such is life I suppose I was awaiting any late responses as a couple of boats that were out have not sent a catch report in. I will calculate specimen sizes tonight and update this post. Charlie
  19. Hi All I have been chasing up for Humphrey, where to send Shimano's for repairs or where to get parts from. after a few calls I have got the following two addresses, so I thought I would pass them on. Tight Lines 55 Croft Street Lincoln LN2 5AZ 01522 523834 Felindre servicing Felindre Swansea West Glamorgan SA5 7ND 01792 796584 I have used the second one and they were very good Regards Charlie
  20. Great report Kam after a wonderful trip well worth the trip to France by the look of it. Wish we had that sort of sport in range of our boats this side. Charlie
  21. Hi Rich welcome back perhaps you should have tried here Charlie
  22. Did he get his fish though?????? Charlie
  23. I would have and probably should have done that on Sunday The main reason why I didn't was getting the boys to rapidly reel in the other five lines. all with 1 1/2 lb leads on. my boat is rigged for an easy system of letting the anchor go. On the very end of the anchor warp is a buoy that will not fit through the alderney ring. I just undo the rope from the side cleat and let all the warp pay out, when it reaches the buoy just chuck it overboard and you are drifting. Charlie
  24. Considering you have a 7000LD allready my recomendation would be a shimano TLD 20 I have had mine for years and its as good as ever, nice tough reel with a great drag system. Its fairly narrow which makes it easy to control the recovery of the line, Sam and Dan both use mine without problem, Although Sam now seems to prefer the TLD15 [ but thats only slightly bigger than a 7000] my TLD 25 is bigger and is loaded with heavier braid but is usually left unused in preferance for the other two.
