  1. Sounds like you had a busy weekend. I have never had a conger in the harbour of any size. The cuttle fish seemed to have done the job on the rays. I expect that you will be back there with more cuttle soon. I have logged the best fish from the competition results, but if you or anyone else has other fish to add to the book please let me know Charlie
  2. Hi Peter Have you ever tried fishing it? it must be a pig to anchor. Charlie
  3. Don't know where I would put 3 coils of rope on GW ether Duncan After fishing plenty of 70 metre wrecks in the west country with big weights and heavy gear to ease the strain of bait changes, I have never really fancied the work rate for fishing the deeps. I believe that there must be some very big fish out there as they are only fished rarely Charlie
  4. When you get relly adventurous try the Hurd deeps. There is a wreck, in the hole that they fish at anchor for congers be aware that the charts show it as 174 metres deep [just under 600ft] Charlie

Hi Trevor a new boat this week Was it the one we spoke about on Thursday. Thanks for the magnet, it was on the anchor warp 100ft down this time, with several chopped mackeral, the Rays/ Dogs / Congerseemed to like it Tight lines on the new toy Charlie Sam and Daniel
  6. Nice one Adam Thanks for all your hard work I know how hard it is to get the results out quickly after you have been out fishing yourself, and have the cleaning up to do. I will send the top ten to the BFM tonight Charlie
  7. Certainly would be if going alone but in a group you should be alright with coastal pack and some mates to keep an eye on you Charlie
  8. Hi Adam Well done mate, another venue tried and with good results for your first visit. can you all send me catch reports or emails of who caught what, so that the book can be written up. It looks like I will be busy later as everyone is keeping their competition catches a bit hush hush Charlie Back to the decorating today
  9. Nice one Dan It will be good to see you flying about Charlie
  10. Thanks Adam Charlie
  11. Duncan I am afraid that My experiance of measurements and calculation formula to give wieght of tope was not good. I carefully took the measurement of a fish that bottomed my [40lb max] scales, to find that the formula gave the weight as 34lb. The club insists that a fish is weighed, not measured or calculated/estimated I carry an old mail sack and scales to 110lb should a big one arrive. I have a stainless eye bolted to the back end of the cabin roof to help hold the scales. if it bottoms those scales it would go back, after photo's of it with a very happy angler. Charlie
  12. Hi Martin No problem with you beating me to the job always happy to have help. I will try and photo copy some lists for Thursday evening Charlie
  13. Thanks Martin You read that one before I did, another job saved. Charlie
  14. Hi Adam All the mods look great How do you get on with those style of rod holders, I have two very simular but I found the constant movement of them in the spline annoying so I removed them. I have been considering putting them back onboard as keeping the rod buts up off the floor may be an advantage now the boys are bigger, and that advantage may outway the rod tips moving. I have been considering getting a pair like James on DR, but they may put the rods to high. Charlie Charlie
  15. Nice report Duncan Glad you had a few fish, it looked busy from where we were. I had not fished it on the ebb before but probably will again while the bream are about. Typical we call over another Club boat and watch them catch the bigger fish. we mover to the patch when the light tackle was struggling to hold bottom and heavy weights were just getting snagged every drop. In fact I had the best fish of the day there, but only 2lb. Wet and Breezy but still enjoyable. even if we called it a day at 3 due to Sam getting a bit damp through his old waterproofs. Charlie
  16. Welcome aboard Enjoy the banter, and please join in Charlie
  17. Rich PS Turf tonight hoperfully??????? Are you eating your horse from the derby???? Charlie
  18. Rich What Bass was that mate Thanks Kam for quoting the size of the bass from last years comp, saved me a job Terry can you send a catch report through for Peters fish please, or confirm surname for me. not as easy to keep up with all the Members Names now Tight lines Charlie
  19. Nice report Martin, well done Dean. It certainly looks like Dean has recovered from the second day at Alderney Good to see some nice fish caught. I will add them to the book this evening. Charlie
  20. Nice one Dean well done I thought you must be in the fish to stay around the corner Charlie
  21. A Bass won last year Charlie
  22. A Bit wet and a bit bouncy We finished up with about 20 or so bream at Swanage and a few at the Patch but our best was only 2lb. Charlie
  23. Welcome Glen enjoy the forum earlier today at Swanage the Mackeral were very thick on the ground. we caught six when our bream rigs tipped with squid were lifted off the bottom by the tide. feathers would have filled up very quickly indeed. If you are after the bream that are out there in most areas, head into the bay and look for concentrations of boats or pot buoys, anchor in front of a rocky patch or drift with ragworm tipped with squid or mackeral strips and you have a chance of a nice fish or two. Please return what are not wanted for the pot as we are all trying to concerve the fish as best we can Have fun Charlie
  24. What a way to christen the new boat. Alex told me last night that you had collected bait and I was hoping that you had managed to put some to good use. Very pleased that you had such a good trip in that weather, and that the boat performed well. Nice one and well done for returning a great fish to breed. a specimen Bass is a great start. Charlie
  25. Hi All I have just spoken to Peter regarding tomorrows bream comp, considering the wind is due to go west and ease we have decided that the comp will be ON. Although the weather is wet the wind should be 3/4/5 westerly We consider that to be safe, but can I remind the skippers that it is your decision to go or not. Please take into account the ability of your boat and crew to deal with the weather before making your decisions on where to fish. Fishing under the normal Club Rules, please confirm if you are fishing post here, send me an email or leave a message on my home phone tonight. Whistler may not be out tomorow, and I may only have one crew so taking down notes may be awkward in the morning in the rain and wind. Tight lines Charlie
