    Pump

I have one Trevor, it's a big bilge pump, 12volt, about 8" high and 4" diameter, over 1000 liters per hour. If needed I can photo it and send you picture. Mad Mike
  2. Adam, if you want to let Max the one with the warp that is OK with me I'll go for the 2kg with chain only. I am sure there will be a massive price reduction to take into account the lack of warp? Mad Mike
  3. As Alun noted..Today the wind seems much stronger than forecast, so hope it dies overnight. On the basis of the forcast we were up at Sparrows and down to the boat. However it was bluddy freezing and blowing a mini hoolie . Unabashed we headed out to go to a mark or two south of Swanage. Rounding Old Harry it was obvious that the forcast 6 to 8 mile an hour winds were a distant hope as we crashed through a lumpy wind over tide sea. Hopes of distant marks faded and we sought some comfort in Swanage bay. Heading in with the sonar being our guide we found an area of uneaven bottom with the 'fish below' warning pinging away like mad. Mark did a wonderful job letting the anchor go whilst rising and falling 6 ft or so on the bouncing fordeck and we settled down to fish......... Bloody brilliant!!! Bream several around 2lb fought like little tigers, LSD's of course, Thornbacks, and Mackerel. we went on catching steadily and finished up bathed in sunshine with a proper wind of only F4. All the fish went back 'sept the Mackies. The tide on both the flood and ebb was particularly fierce. The new boat was magnificent, it rode out a snotty sea with relative ease and with the door shut behind us a lot of comfort The ride was so soft, I was very impressed. Anchored the windbreak of the wheel house was a god send. Great day Loved it Mad Mike
  4. RADAR REFLECTOR I was going to get one, but as I have a Stainless Steel plate in my back and got a very good return image on the screen at tonights Radar Demo I have decided that as far as I am concerned I don't need an extra one. Mad Mike

    Alderney Ring

No not at all the P&P was included in those costings. Kam I am the tightest thing with my money. I do not throw it around and somtimes stand amazed at the way some folk just buy off the shelf so to speak. a little research on ebay has saved me hundreds if not thousands. eg I have just bought an inflateable 230 Yamaha dinghy and a 4 hp 4 stroke yam to fit it both used only 5 times in 18 months and they are like new for

I don't know if you guys are made of money or not, but
  7. Just a by the by, Portland harbour is now privately owned and not part of HM Dockyards any more. You have to pay to use it. I don't know how much it is this year but a man comes whizzing round in a RIB and takes your money. At the entrances there are big signs showing the tariff. Mad Mike
  8. Project improves boat facilities Councillors hope the bridge will improve access to Hamworthy Work has begun on a project to improve access for boat users in Poole ahead of the construction of a
  9. Helen listened in And what did the other listner think? Issa bit daunting isn't it Paul, ones confidence drops like a stone once one goes into the glass cubical. I used to do a weekly motoring slot on commercial radio in Portsmouth way back in the 80's. Mad Mike
  10. Sounds like an excellent day Mike. It must be nice having an expert with you to mentor your efforts. I am sure George does not begrudge the time trying to teach an old dog fox how to do it Mad Mike
  11. Belated greetings from me too Kam, I hope you had a great day and have many many more. Mad Mike
  12. Fishing debris.! This is an example of how poor English and the trend for brevity gives a totally false impression, and the result of the same incorrect assumption could be a stupid knee jerk reaction. SPORT fishing is not going to produce anything like the debris of........ COMMERCIAL fishing whos debris is evident on almost any beach in the country Yet it all gets lumped together as 'fishing'. More fuel for the save the gay green whale brigade to fire at our pastime! Mad Mike

    Pictures

Remember a while back some of us were keen to have a photo session and maybe a flotilla picture or three. I was thinking that with this exceptional weather we should be getting a plan together? Mad Mike
  14. 520 will, based on a mwaterline length of 4.8m, have to be planing at 5.57 knots or sink - well the recently modified figs actually suggest that it could survive up to 6.13 knots but ........... ????? SINK??? What disapear under the waves?? All that happens is either there is sufficient power to overcome the uphill gradient of the 'hump' and the boat progresses to plane or if there is more power but not sufficent to plane then the bow angles higher and the stern sinks lower into the simplistically speaking, hole in the water that the engine (prop thrust) has dug. Mad Mike
  15. I think the 4
  16. im afraid you have got that formula wrong... everyone knows that its 1.5C x 2t x (-4t) + the 10th root of us/jp x 6th multiple of the displacement! Elementary my dear watson lool Dan DAMNIT!! The boy is right!!! I am undone!!! Mad Mike
  17. Welsh estuary ?? Which one Jack? Mad Mike
  18. Possibly an excess of flatulence on your part Jack. Sorta like a built in 'ground affect' We have just bought a little inflatable with a 4hp engine and that gets flying like a saucer when there is only one light person aboard. Me? It goes down half an inch deeper and needs a minute or two to decide to move Mad Mike
  19. What's he at exactly ? What the f%*ck has an E-Tec got to do with a conversion from knots to Mph ? Just a little gentle leg pulling re your planing speed and your passionate arguments in favour of Evinrude 2 strokes Paul. Mad Mike
  20. Paul (D) on another thread says .... My 520 planes at around 5 to 6 knots with the smart tabs fitted and that is with a fair amount of weight in the back as well. This seems to defy the laws of physics and hydrodynamics? An object moving through/across the water needs several factors to coincide before sufficient lift is created to remove the influence of water drag on the hull and allow the whole to rise untill the total weight is riding ON the water film rather than through it. For the life of me I can not see this happening to any solid hull boat at 5 or 6 kts. So either Pauls estimation of his speed is well off or the GPS is wrong or the boat is not planing but just getting up ready to lift on to true planing speed. The formula for planing speed is very similar to that of an aircrafts needs to fly. To overcome (drag), gravity (weight), airflow in the terms of velocity (lift) and I can not see the figures adding up to a planing speed of 5knts Mad Mike
  21. There is a vital factor which all of you have overlooked ! One needs to factor in C x 2t x (-4t) + us/jp Whereas.......... The speed of light times the combustion method of the engine x (the reduction of the carbon footprint Vs a 4 cycle engine) + the country of origin of the engine (Well known fact that in the USA men need to think their willies are bigger than Japanese mens). This means that if you are running a 2 stroke e-tech you APPEAR TO BE GOING FASTER THAN OTHER SIMILAR BOATS POWERED BY BETTER ENGINES!!!!!! Mad Mike
  22. Noticed the abscence of Pride Of Morpork 2 on Saturday did you have any luck with the Fishees Not brilliant We went to the Ledge* on the basis of all the reports of Bream over 2 tons throwing themslves on to bare hooks. When we got there it looked like a 'Park & Ride' car park must have been over 30 boats. We found a spot near Adam and fished for 2 hours without a bite even though we groundbaited. So we b***erd of and found a little rough patch somewhere off Southbourn about a mile or so out. It turned out to be dog fish central but we had a load of fun fishing on light tackle. Also Wrass and a bull huss which gave my mate Mark a good fight on a light spinning rod. Mad Mike
  23. Thermostat is also new I noticed this comment in your first post. Being an old sceptic with cyinical tendencies my suggestion is based on " It may be new but is it working?" Really, do try a run inc' high speed without the thermostat just to see if the fault is still there. Also as a second home test if it still alarms when running over 4000rpm for any time. Get it to trigger the alarm, immediately slow down and put her in neutral and check the tell tale water temp by hand. If it is BOILING hot then you do infact have a fault. If it is not that hot but just a bit warmer than hand wash water then you may have just a faulty sender unit. These are tests that you can do yourself for free. Lastly if you need a Suzuki specialist take the boat to Yellow Penguin at Mitchells rather than HBM. Mad Mike
