  1. I can second this, I did the same last week, very helpful. Terry.
  2. I have a few things that came with the new boat that are surplus to requirements. 1X 8kg Danforth anchor, 2 x Scotty rod holders, no fittings (available on line), 6 x Plastimo lifejackets/buoyancy aids, apparently useful when using towed toys, 4 still in packs and two been used once in perfect condition. https://www.compass24.com/safety/life-jackets/foam-life-jackets/194177/plastimo-lifejacket-set?sPartner=google_products_com&number=214652_8&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=freeshopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwm7mEBhBsEiwA_of-TAaAXhG0oo-zpH2EHy-7EhBWD1-zufigdQymX1zeyS1Qc8H4fMgI9hoCpP0QAvD_BwE Any interest, let me know. Terry.
  3. Happy cake day youngsters, get some in! Terry.
  4. No, it has no wifi, I bought it to upgrade from a smaller screen for the same reason. When it came to fitting out the new boat, I realised I needed to go larger again, hence this unit being surplus to requirements. If you want something with wifi, you will need to think about a serious investment, I paid over £1000 for the current one. If you can run to it, think of the Lowrance Hook 2 Reveal 9" which you can get from Force 4 for a little over £500 and it is a good unit, but no wifi, this is what is fitted to my Warrior which I am selling. Terry.
  5. I've got a Raymarine Dragonfly 7" unit that's been used probably 8 times, install and go. Terry.
  6. Looking at the met forecasts, the weather doesn't look too promising which is a shame as I was going to make it my opening event for the new boat. I'll wait and see. Terry.

Make mine an outstanding lardy cake. Terry.
  9. In Poole, Boat + Mooring = Cheap is not an equation that computes. Good luck! Terry.

Bit like the old definition of a farmer, a man outstanding in his field. Terry.
  11. I also had a friend's Jack Russel that used to go coarse fishing with me and he would watch the float or rod tip and any movement he would bark. When I retrieved any fish, he would dive in and grab them in the shallows and I will never forget when he did this with an eel. As hard as he gripped, it would still slip through his jaws and I can still see his eyes and the muscles on his jaws bulging in an effort to keep hold. In the end, he let it slip to the ground, turned and pissed on it. Honours even! Terry.
  12. When I was training gundogs professionally, I had a titled client who would treat me to the odd day on his trout chalkstream river. The bank was very manicured with very large leafed flowering plants bordering the pathway and we used to put trout in the shade of these to be collected on our return. So, a labrador of his that I had in for instruction got the additional training of retrieving trout and he used to hunt ahead of us on our return and bring back the trout we had deposited. This became a party trick of his Lordship with his guests of which he was very proud. Terry.
  13. Is that one of those ghost carp? Terry.

Shame you can't find a diet that removes that many pounds as quickly, Jim. 😉 Terry.
  15. Don't think I'd get you from here. 😉 Have a great day, I'm sure you will. Not jealous! Terry.
  16. Ooh! I'm tempted but must resist until I've had my engine serviced so I am confident in it. I know it's hardly run in but am a bit belt and braces, I'm afraid. I just hope I'm not going to miss all the good weather. Good luck wherever you end up. Terry.

Have to say I did this many years ago in an aged Renault estate, stopped at £20, got the engine going and drove it out, topping up with diesel every day. I think I was lucky. Terry.

Kam, I think the problem will be the same, mess and somewhere to store it. Terry.
  19. You may find with your scales, like mine, that if you hold them a bit longer, they will fix on an average figure. Obviously not quite as easy on a kayak. Terry.
  20. Happy cake day young Jim, don't hold back. Terry.
  21. Can anyone else hear an echo??? Terry.
  22. About 20 miles from Poole harbour entrance so, 40 miles round trip plus a lot of drifting and take into consideration the tides, you'll use more fuel against the tide. Terry.
  23. Not going out tomorrow although I will be down on Friday to meet with my electrical engineer who is going to do a couple of jobs for me. My input into this is to postulate a possible method of safe fishing going forward. I have a local friend who wants to come out so, when we are allowed, I have suggested that we both do one of the free flow tests the night before, just for security. Obviously, a positive test result would mean cancellation. The tests are free and readily available so, what do folks think? Terry.
