  1. PM me your details and I'll see how to get it to you. Terry.
  2. Cue Jim (Smallfry). Terry.
  3. If there is any club member who would like to make themselves a simple bait tank with no complicated plumbing, I have the necessary pump for you. It is an American Keep Alive system which comprises an aerating pump that sits on the bottom of the tank with an air-in tube and an aerated water out tube. All that is needed is a 12v supply, cables included. This is fine for smelt, sand eels, pout or small pollack, no good for mackerel as they need replenished water and movement. This will cost you a pint at a club meeting or function. Terry.
  4. I don't think you're going to get a helpful reply in the public section of the site, that sort of information is not for general consumption. Terry.
  5. Do they come with any recipe recommendations? Terry.
  6. Go for it, I am and you don't catch fish sitting at home, only regrets. Terry.
  7. Thanks for the support, Rob, but I can't blame the BBQ, apart from about 20 minutes chatting, I spent the evening in the bedroom. I shall definitely be doing my best to put Imagine in the top part of the comp results. Terry.
  8. I think we need a new annual award, The Golden Trumpet. Rob would win it this year but doesn't need it really, he has his own. Terry.

    Anchor

I would have thought 5kg appropriate, IMHO. Terry.
  11. Although the tide question is still the same, though under normal circumstances not too difficult, you do have an alternative. Due to my location with a long drive home, I launch at Wick, Christchurch. There is no launch fee, reasonable parking fees and, being a bit up river, the water is virtually fresh. Engine gets a rinse out and you're not dumping your trailer in brine, thus reducing maintenance costs. Simples! Terry.
  12. Being in Oxfordshire, same applies to me, Dave. You have to get your priorities right or, like me, retire. Terry.
  13. I think we have to accept that not all commercials are bad guys, we have to feed the country at the end of the day. On the same principle, not all 'recreational' anglers are lily white, I think those of us who fish out of Mudeford have known one or two who are blatantly fishing for profit on an almost daily basis. Terry.
  14. I'm afraid there is no shortcut to success, even with a bucketful of good advice. At the end of the day, the more hours you put into your fishing, the better and 'luckier' you will get. A few years ago I was out walking across the fields with 8 of my gundogs, all walking to heel without slips. I spotted someone walking towards me with a golden retriever tugging away at it's lead and, as the owner passed, he said how lucky I was to have such obedient dogs. I replied that, funny old thing, the more time I put into their training, the luckier I got. Same principle applies. Terry.
  15. Thanks for the positive comments chaps. Next weather window and I'm down, crew permitting. Terry.
  16. Stingray hasn't been moved for over a year now (apart from fitting new tyres which only involved elevating a little) so today I decided the time had come. I moved her into the main drive, drained the carburettors (lot's of remaining oil in there), renewed the petrol in the tanks (not much old stuff in there), charged the batteries and turned the key. Bingo! All good, so that's a relief. Tomorrow, as it's supposed to be sunny again (getting boring now), the big clean up and waxing begins. Deep joy! Then, if I can find a crew to winch her back on the trailer, I shall have a day's fishing. Or two! Terry.
  17. Just looking at the winners for July, has Alun been ill? Terry.
  18. Yesterday I had my first inshore trip on a small boat since last July when Alun invited me aboard Gastronaut to search out a few bass. I was very exited. The weather was not as ordered with overcast skys, a very brief shower and quite a chilling wind on the water. Mackerel were not easy to find but they were there, just being a bit elusive. First cast and I'm into my first bass for a year, nicely hooked in the upper lip so it gave a good account of itself; about 6lbs of bristling spikes. After this encouraging start I knew it was going to be a good day. I must have upset someone upstairs because that was my last one to come to the net. Alun landed one that was an exact copy of mine shortly afterwards and, apart from dropping a few more, that was it. Still a good day out in anyone's book and especially for me, a real treat. I found the day really tiring, it's much easier on a bigger boat. I'm sure I could launch my boat but would definitely struggle recovering it so I'll stick to invitations for a while yet. Many thanks to Alun for being my carer for the day, I now have bass fillets for supper and a good supply of mackerel for hot smoking, which will keep Dilys happy. Terry.
  19. Bacause if you open it, it is not on the list. Obviously! Terry.
  20. I know we all think we're so cynical and immune to such things but here's a useful pdf. document from the Met Police as a guide to scams. There's even a link to the latest ones. Worth a look. Guide to Scams Terry.
  21. Done. Terry.

    New iPad sir?

This is a very clever machine. It is in German but if you click cc at the bottom of the screen, you will get English subtitles. Terry.
  23. Once the lowered tone bandwagon is rolling, watch out for those jumping on board. Terry.
  24. Somebody always has to lower the tone. I hadn't realised you were into beaver, Paul. Terry.
  25. Did you get permission from your wife to say that, Jim? Terry.
