    Cod Hooks

I must be the only one but I use Varivas full circle 8/0 for the bottom and a 4/0 Varivas Big Mouth "TDE" (Pennel) above it. Haven't missed any (to my knowledge) and haven't lost any (yet). Those that I've hooked, I have landed. It's down to what one has faith in, I guess. Interestingly, I tie them fairly close and only use two squid for bait. Again, seems to work and is cheaper on bait. When I see the little crabs the cod are picking up, I think they would look upon two squid as a worthwhile mouthful. Terry.
  5. Sorry about that mistake Gary, I assumed you got it relatively recently. Mike, my boat is a Warrior 165 and I believe 75hp is the max for it. But thanks for the advice. Terry.
  6. Thanks for that input chaps and for the pm Mike. I have emailed Powertech and await a reply. I hadn't considered a second hand one until you mentioned it, Gary, but it is worth pursuing. Terry.
  7. You chaps who have bought Evinrude Etec engines, where did you buy them and did you get a good deal? Terry.

    Birthday

Thanks for all your good wishes lads, I think I'm filling up. Tears of joy, obviously. I have had a superb day. Threated to lunch at Le Manoir au Quatre Saissons ( for those in the know, Raymond Blanc's gaff) which lasted from 1 pm till 5.15pm (yes,, I know I eat slow) 5 courses with amazing wines; wonderful! Wish you could have all been there. Now, when can I go cod fishing again? Terry.
  9. Well, I have made a decision, whatever the weather, I am going fishing the first two weeks of March, at least for 2 or 3 days. So there! Did I mention I will be in Cayo Coco, Cuba? Terry.
  10. See, told you! Terry.
  11. Definitely do not add milk at the beginning. Take it with you and add as required. Even better, take a small flask of hot milk. I have a bean to cup machine which is not practical for filling a flask. However, a percolator or large cafetiere and decant to the flask would give you decent coffee from the start. Terry.

I'm going to be going out with a similar agenda, Paul. I have a plan based on certain observations which, as usual, I hope will work but am ready for disappointment. Perhaps I'll get lucky. Terry.
  15. I have to say, I was looking at Sunday as well. However, I have just checked again and ........................ Terry.
  16. What are you saying, Rob? That I've half inched some of the moulds? Git! Terry.
  17. Photograph would be helpful. Terry.
  18. I know you won't believe this but, I was going to add to the end of my post 'not even you, Rob'. Terry.
  19. Well. I'm perfectly happy with it, whatever the format. The fact that I appear on there comes as a complete surprise Today is a good day, don't anyone spoil it! Terry.
  20. None taken. Terry.
  21. I try. Terry.
  22. You can add me to this one one you get up and running, Dave. I was going to do it through S'ton collecge but missed the boat. Terry.
  23. I may be wrong Mike but, as I understand it, one is not allowed to purposely fish for bass in the nursery areas. As it is a bass competition, I would have thought the answer is implicit. But, as I said, I may be wrong. Terry.
  24. As a new member, we will not have met yet so you will not know that I am an up-country member. Where I live, there is no Indespension outlet so rely on the telephone and internet for my supplies. The contact I gave was specifically for Warrior owners as this guy is involved with the development of these trailers and gave me some good advice regarding the placing of the rollers. Different to the original and apparently an improvement. Maybe catch up at the next meeting. Terry.
  25. For those others of you with Warrior boats, I have a useful contact. I have been having issues with Indespension sourcing roller assemblies on my trailer. Suffice it to say that it has taken me since 9/8 to sort it. I finally got to the fountain head, i.e., the person in charge of the Warrior contract. He knows his stuff and is very helpful. His name is Peter Hannis and he is the Assistant Manager at the Bolton Depot; telephone number 01204397999, email bolton@indespension.com. He is very helpful and I commend him to the house. Terry.
