Barrel sourced locally and welding completed. Should be ready for smoking some trout next week. Thanks for the offer Trev, a truck driving friend noticed one on an industrial estate and asked if he could take it. Unfortunately, no lid, so if you can find one with a lid, I would still like it and will convert this one to a hot smoker. Terry.

I would say, almost certainly, a dodgy connection. I had a similar problem and re-attached the two ends properly with solder and that fixed it. Terry.

Thanks for that. Most of the oysters I have come from Whitstable so I shall have to be more careful. The report does say that rock oysters are affected and I usually have the natives. Shall check further. Terry.

I have two for my Warrior. They are good for live baiting for bass, you can keep an eye on the depth of the weight as it appears on the sonar. Also good for trolling lures, plugs, etc. Terry.
