  2. The answer is........... Take only in moderation. In freshwater we have a closed season for breeding fish. Seems that we take the oportunity to take fish from the sea as they gather to breed.
  3. Let me know when you are going to make an apperance Mal! I still have your Pennant!!
  4. allegedly.......assist hooks (single or twins) mounted on the top loop of your pirk / speed jig will increase your hook up rate and reduce your snag rate. If the doubles are tied properly they are adjustable so you have one near the top and one lower down. I've used them for a few years and apart from the above (can't really quantify such) I find them easier to handle and I have confidence in them, which for many anglers is probably the most important aspect. There were a few photo's on the old web site of my method of building / rigging assist hooks. I will try to seek them out and upload again. As for transport. It is much easier as the pirk / jig and hooks are married with a clip swivel only when you attach to your main line. I have a box full of jigs and several trays of assist hooks tied and ready to go in the same box. A speed jig and assist hooks on mack feathers has accounted for some cracking bonus fish for me.
  5. I was making my own assist hooks due to cost and quality................. But then I found a clearance sale online with 6 doubles with S/S rings for £2.99 a pack !!! bought 4 packs - jobs a good un!

  16. Thank you Charlie! Another interest would be a watertight TFT monitor for the stern display. It only need be a monitor to view whilst on deck / fishing. Any ideas?
  17. Thanks guys still sniffing around
  18. Cheers Martin sounds good advice particularly as I don't want to clutter my small brain. I am looking to improve and consolidate the information which is most relevant to my boating experience from an anglers angle The sounding tools I think I could really get into looking at all the propaganda
  19. All sounds great Nige! when and where are we going. Great offer Nigel I would love to take a good look see. Many thanks
  20. I'm looking into Lawrance HDS gen 2. Which chart card do you prefer / recommend for this unit from an anglers perspective. BTW do these plotter /sounders come with transducers or are they supplied separately as there seems to be a choice??? I would need (desire) structure scan and broadband down scan I think Your thoughts please.
  21. Bugga!!
  22. Just got 'Otter' out for to 'tart-up-the-old-bucket' & going to bless her with a proper set of convenient rod holders! I got a proper bargain on some through gunwale sockets and some decent safety rails. Well, I would like to put a couple of good strong adjustable rod holders on each side rail. What do you recommend??? SS would be good.
