    Anchor Trip

Geepers Bob................. Even the drawing looks like Otter . Near perfect Mi 21. Do you do boat design as well Thanks All. Wedge
  4. Are there many 'floating piles of crap' in Poole that could be quietly consigned to crab refuges ?
  5. No chicken yolks please. it's not PC.......... & it is Easter after all......... our 'Otter' has several layers of antifouling and it seems that on at least a few occasions her past owners perhaps didn't rub her bottom................ well at least not enough to achieve best results IMHO.......... Obviously we will never get the efficiency of a newly waxed gel coat but just how slick do we have to be ?................ & how much do we stand to loose with a slightly knobbly one Last of the currently planned jobs is this wretched keel band soon as t' chocks are made, but at the same time should her bottom need a rub to keep her sweet.......... well, when needs must, I'll probably oblige....... let me know you feelings.............. Advice of the experienced always welcome T
  6. Well only four weeks into operation 'Saltypotbait' and things are looking great . I've taken out some of the drysalted, with drain, and they're really well preserved. Whilst you definately can smellum, it's not rank at all and, of course, quite tuff stuff . Exactly how I perceived................... a good result . The barrel with 'liquor remain' seems to be great also, with no 'OFFPONG ' at all Steve, so no probs there. I have a 'Profeshnial Potty Chappy' who is willing to experiment for me, so first 50kg out next week. If this works well, perhaps we could put in a bulk club order for pots. I think I'll be going potty anyway . Wedge

    Anchor Trip

A great deal of useful chat re anchor choice and technique in the HELP section. It would be useful to have some comment on setting a trip appropriately. I've seen everything from baler twine to cable ties, shackled direct and old steel trace . Personally I use a piece of braided cord and replace it every few trips . But, what is the correct way ? Wedge
  9. Nice one Jimbob I've got to heave up a few 10-20 lbers ready for Tuesday Still...................... some mugs gotta do it............... T

  12. Tom, Many thanks Wedge
  13. I took a punt on an old Aqua Peche 400 with a view to using it for a bit of freshwater work but perhaps as a harbour margin fisher. The one I have is 1987 but they are still made to the same pattern today, so I would say quite a successful design. Before all of that though, I will need to plug a few gaps and cracks, due to previous misuse. Does anyone have experience of these plastic craft? and more particularly the correct way to fix cracks in the skin?
  14. Might need to change the boot line...... Which way up does it float....... What was the result of the heal test......
  15. Plant tomatoes at the helm.............. Fushias at the stern............. and park it on a roundabout by a well known seaside town.
  16. Ooooooooooh yes Coddy Checked it twice entered it once T
  17. Bob, Many thanks Crossed posts here. My inexperience in reading wiring diagrams caught me napping! Sorted. Cheers T
  18. Paul, Oh Yes! Thanks to all who helped Thanks especially to Andy who offered to drop in. Glad to move on from this! T
  19. T'anks Coddy but no need. Confucius he say............. Read instructions propery........... Then reverse wiring if no lights come on You need to get ya ins & outs sorted .................. allegedly When reading from 3 different manuals, the only thing that is dead easy to achieve is confusion. Hence my regression to the good ol' plumbers answer to an electrical problem mit the theory of.......... 'If it don't light up first time ............ swap the terminals GOT IT
  20. Need I say more?? Mike feel free to comment.............. Nothing can hurt me now.
  21. How Ffffffffffffffrustrating is this? Checked the wiring again and I am pretty sure all are in the right slots. Have checked the sentence formatter in VHF menu, in the plotter setup. With IC- M421 the manual states, 'When connecting GPS receiver is compatible with several sentence formatters, the order of input precedence is RMC, GGA, GNS and GGL.' In plotter setup for VHF I have tried all switched on, each one of the above individually switched on in turn, (not GNS as it's not on the list). No joy! On the NMEA data page there's no data stream for VHF but there is for auto-pilot. (I haven't got auto-pilot as Jim will drive when I'm tired ). Any gurus out there?? Am I just thick..............................(Steady Mike). T
  22. Paul, How did your new barrel turn out? T
  23. I was informed today that an email link back to an alleged eBay account update site is believed to be a spoof. AOL are blocking this site but other SPs might not. The email invites you to use the link where you can update your account details. If this is bogus , guess what happens next!
  24. Thanks All, I will check the above and report back later. Might have enough points to get to the Boat Jumble first Had a PM offering a 'look see' also, so should find my fumble before long T The NMEA -ve is to ground so I guess it's a setup issue.
  25. I've just connected my plotter /fishfinder and VHF/DSC. All working except the VHF isn't showing the position or time. I presume it is not reading or receiving the plotter output. As the plotter is Standard Horizon 175C with FF520 black box but the DSC/ VHF is ICOM 421 the wiring instuctions confuse my simple mind. Have I messed up the wiring or is there a setup procedure . The whole setup was bought as a new package so I'm assuming they are compatable. T
