So I have found a company which is listed below a guy named Ian Bateman who said that the180mm would be the American version as UK are175mm but he would make me one and leave it at Cobbs for me to collect for this weekend and not only that, but they were the cheapest quote I got +free delivery by hand and no payment up front. NO Adam i will sort that. If this all goes belly up Jackie may just end up killing me. I am now happy with plan A Jackie packing her own bags and the rips trip ideal. But plan B still not right as I know I am unable to get a pass just for me and crew so this is the only way I can make the trip.
-
Thanks for your input Charlie but I think I have all those bases covered as Jackie will have to pack a bag for the caravan I will tell her that we will be going out to the Rips and sleep on the boat Thursday as a 5am start so technically all I have to do is sneak the bag aboard. Robs points I am more worried about I will need to come up with a plan to cover that anyone have any bright ideals, help needed if I am going to pull this off.

Abode report on Alderney trip As all the lads were just a tad excited as I was but, with a big tinge of nervousness from me as this was a huge trip for Abode and after going past the chain ferry it can only be described as feeling 7 year old on Christmas eve. With a 600 ft invisible rope tied to White Magic, out to the first mark Bens first drop and into a nice Pollock ,second drift Ben again and a blank for me, by now banter on radio in full flow and the water lovely and smooth averaging 18 knots until we got close to Alderney and my biggest fear FOG Abode has no radar so we reduced the rope to 300ft and Dave and the rest of the lads kept us up to date with traffic, we soon eased in to Alderney and waited for White Magic to fill up. Our tank also full with a fresh 46 lts YES 46 lts for the crossing was just amazing out of six boats we used the least amount of derv, after fuel we rafted up to White Magic by now all the lads making evening plans for food and beer. So i stayed on the boat while the lads went to the B&B. The View as I locked Abode's door Abode ready for my first of three nights sleeping on the boat, up for a quick shower which was hot and clean and needed then to catch up with all the lads up to the pub for food, after a full belly of food and beer back to Abode, all three nights I slept well not like my crew who I believe challenged the White Magic crew to a little drinking contest and Ben lost BIG BIG Time. Next day over to the banks for them fat turbots first drop and in with a big smile to Ben, fish on but over his shoulder only to see a bank of fog rolling towards at speed, by the time the fish hit the deck visibility was down to 40 ft or less (o sh**) and a few others words, almost ruined the first turbot on Abode but over the radio came Charlie r u ok Craig were just in front of you and then White Magic to our stern I relaxed to end up with four turbots in the box and Ben was loving it and was spot on with setting up drift after drift. Things now slowing down had, a call from Adam on JV,would we like to join them for some light rod Pollock bashing, yes please so Ben got the rods up and I squared the boat up now JV was a spot on the arisen so up on the plain 16-19-21-24-28knts we were soon on her stern and plugging on the mark. JV crew already into many fish none for Abode, call from Adam on the set up we should be using so a quick change with limited gear on board and bang both of us straight into fish, god they hit like a bloody train so we were soon out of rubbers which was a shame because i could of stayed there for hours, then came the, its time to return back to the moorings and make the evening plans for more beer and food, also Dan offered to splice my anchor rope for me first thing in the morning so getting everything ready for a early start I joined the lads for a few beers somewhat later. Next morning kettle and bacon on first thing, able to see Charlie on board but no sign of Dan, so bucket over the side to swill down Abode deck as I stood up I impelled my head on a treble hook (that F****** hurt) after a struggle tried to find a way with one hand to cut the line and rod free from my head, after freeing myself I jumped into the tender and made my way over to Alfresco to pick up Dan I told Charlie of my little mishap. With a concerned look told me to come aboard after a look he cut the other two barbs of and had a few tugs with pliers, he said I would need to go up the hospital or see if Mark in the tackle shop could help, but more keen on Dan splicing my rope off we went back to Abode and Dan made a great job. Thanks Dan. I then went ashore and showed Mark and he just confirmed that i needed to go to the hospital within two seconds he flagged a local lady down who kindly took me to the front door. The only reason I am telling you this is if you are thinking of a trip over to Alderney then make sure you are insured (not like me) after an inspection by the nurse she informed me that a doctor would be needed which would cost in excess of
