    E-tec

Sounds good Jon. Is it big enough for your needs? Tiddler is 13 feet and quite light. I wouldn't want a 25 on that, It's just not big enough. What is the reccommended size for your boat ? Jim

    E-tec

Poole marine services serviced my E-tec and my Honda. Fantastic engineer by the name of Sam Cobb. He comes to my house to do the work. jim

    E-tec

Hi Jon, Yes I had an E-Tec 75. Exactly the same physical lump as the 90 but the computer told it that it was a 75. The plastic on the early ones used to crack a bit but that's been sorted I believe. I had a couple of bits where the paint bubbled but I sorted that. I found it to be a very good engine. It never played up, was brilliant on fuel and cost about £300 every 3 years for servicing. The guy that bought Small Fry sent me a Christmas card to say how pleased he was with both boat and engine. ( He's an ex AA serviceman ) so he would pick up on any faults I would have thought ! E-Tecs are not noisey or smelly and run on tick-over quite happily as the oil usage is controlled by the computer. Thought I would try the Honda this time ( which is also a lovely engine ) but servicing frequency and costs have made me wonder if I should have stayed with the E-Tec. My view of the E-Tec ? - - - - - -Nothing wrong with it at all ( well no more than any other outboard ) Hope I have been of some help. Jim

  22. I can imagine the tears from the guy who has to fit the engine to boats with a titanium plate ! Mind you it's probably a very good idea Charlie I've worked on that stuff and it eats tools for a pastime ! But at the end of the day - - if people don't buy it - - - nobody will nick it.
