  4. Hi AJ, Some people use these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainless-Steel-Outboard-Lock-Secure-your-Out-Board-Quickly-Easily-All-Makes-/150749434098?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D261124881570%26ps%3D54 It hides a mounting nut from theives and makes life awkward for them. You can't stop them but you can slow them down a bit. Jim

    4 bladed props?

Interesting thread. Tiddler is on the max engine size and hence a little stern heavy. I spoke to the designer / builder who said that trim tabs would get her up on the plane at lower speeds. I'm reluctant to start drilling and fixing tabs. I wonder if a 4 blader would help on a titchy little boat? If I get up onto the plane, and ease back to stay inside the harbour speed limit she begins to fall back off the plane. This sounds like prop slip. Maybe I should be speaking to some of these propeller companies too ? ? ? Jim
  10. You've heard the term " high maintainance " Not sure if the boats or the " waspy " women were the highest maintainance. Entertaining though ! I wonder if the Tidler could give em a run for their money ? ?
  11. Very Good indeed ! Jim

    Fuel Tank

" Why half the size out board? Well, he had about 6 or 8 bags of sand in the bow to keep the front down and it was well over powered. " Have you checked the transome for cracks / damage ? Jim

" My Mrs thinks, asking question like this that I will look a prat. But I think I would look a bigger prat going out and then finding out the hard way. " I completely agree wirh you John. I don't have the experience of different boats & engines so others will probably be able to input. Most importantly - - - - - - don't go anywhere without a buddy boat or three until you're used to your boat. The weather is begining to change now so there should soon be a few of us about. As for fuel consumption - - - there are quite a few threads on here regarding spreading the weight on the boat - - - choosing the correct engine - - - choosing the correct propeller for your engine etc. etc. etc. Jim
  15. Well done Lofty & Co.

  19. Quote Bob F " Yeah, I'm still floating in the background. Starting a new job soon, so you never know I might even have time to go fishing again. " Let's hope so Bob Jim
  20. Very Rare collector's item then !
  21. Send a PM to Charlie Chapman. I think he had some DNA marking kits left. Paste this stuff into every crook & nanny on anything that's worth nicking.
  22. Blimey ! There's a name we don't see very often. Hiya Bob. If I had time to read them, I'd have them. Unfortunately - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Jim
  23. Much too cold for Me Trev. Dodgy knees too.
  24. That's the company I work for. It used to be Hamworthy Water Systems at Fleetsbridge. But Wartsila bought us last year. I'm not involved with the engines though. I'm in the design office, creating 3D models of water treatment plants and then the production drawings and parts lists etc. I was looking at some pictures of these engines the other day and nearly posted some on here for some of our bigger boats Amazing things though !
