    Ahhh BIG BALLS eh ?
  22. Tony collected me at 09:40 We nipped down Lake road for my bait and then off to Cobb's. It was a lovely morning but Tony commented on the breeze which had seemed non existent in our garden. Loaded the gear and away. Dropped the roof bling and straight under the twin sails. The poor old lifting bridge was looking a bit sorry for itself but I suppose it'll be nice and shiny when it's finished. As we headed through the distance Tony said he thought he could see the retired lifeboat ahead. As we got closer we could see that it was. We slowly overtook her and her escort. Once outside of the harbour the lifeboats increased their speed and overtook us. It certainly was a spectacle. ( I wish I'd brought the drone ) I had to film with my phone and caught some good footage which most of you will have seen but here's the link just in case you missed it. I have given a copy to the RNLI Anyway back to the FISHING ! As we headed out to Tony's secret mark . . . . some Gulleys out there somewhere we spoke to Allan on Fisheagle who informed us that the further out we went the lumpier it was so they had moved back inshore. We spoke to Neal on Court Jester who said it was fishable. Stopped for a quick word with Chris on Kingfisher. He'd had various fish but no Cod. We carried on a little further and dropped the anchor. All we had there were small doggies. We stayed for a while and decided to move. We went round & round . . . . & Up & Down. . . . . but no sign of any Gulleys ? ? ? We tried again there and more small doggies. After a while we decided that a move further inshore so we could have a cuppa was needed. The water was much smoother at our new mark and the Doggies were much bigger ! After a while we decided to move close to the shore to have a go for Flatties, Gurnard etc. One of my reels had fallen to bits so I thought I'd have a quick try with my big squid baits before changing tackle. As soon as I dropped my line in I snagged on something which cut my braid. Oh dear I've lost the lot ! I exclaimed. Tony said " you can't have it's a sandy bottom here " Well somehow I managed it. I had what I thought was a small pout only to be told it's a Poor Cod so I slipped it a fiver a put it back saying " now go and buy a decent meal " Tony was happy cos it's another one for his species comp. After that we tried Poole Patch and various places along the shore on the way back with much of the same results. Got back just as it was going dark. Cleaned everything down and nipped in for a quick Doombar with Chris. Sorry for waffling on so much. I really enjoyed my day so a BIG THANKS to Tony. Jim
