Joe I am moored a bit further up the river. There has been a few incidents this year of thefts. Last week an outboard was stolen of a tender on one of the pontoons, they came by boat. I was bow to the bank last year and luckerly i had no problems. I was advised not to leave anything on board and leave empty lockers unlocked to save them smashing the locks to have a look. Loading and unloading every trip is a bit of a pain but better than loosing gear. Hopefully thats all your bad luck out of the way Mick

Paul I found it more than a tad lumpy on the ledge yesterday. I also found the Mackeral easy enough to find even some nice small joeys, so off to drift the ledge for Mr elusive bass, I think i need some lessons. I had one take all day just to drop it. One day i will catch one. Mick

I have a maxximus 20-30 and use it as a Mackeral rod and for guests on my bout who are new to boat fishing, I find it a great rod for the money. It didnt stand up to hitting Tuckton bridge but then neither did my Suveran, I did replace it though as it suits my needs for the money. I also replaced the Suveran with a 20lb class new Suveran evo, it had a good first outing with a bass and 4 congers up to 35lb. Mick

With all this rain lately the kids needed to burn up some energy, so with it looking blowy at home and even christchurch harbour had wavelets we went for a walk over hengistbury head. How i wished i had gone out in the boat flat calm as far as i could see out to the needles and old harry looked so appealing. fingers crossed for sunday. Mick

We will be there. I cant get the wife or daughter on the boat but they love the boat show. Lats year my daughter 10 tried the andark diving tank and then spent 1.5 hours sailing with rockley sailing school. that nearly cost me she loved it. Then we all went out on a rodman 850. I was lucky enough to go twice as we took clients for a day out, so i tried a rib and got chance to look at everything i missed with the family. All in all its a great day out. Mick

Jim Im so jealous you had a trip with alun. but so glad you had a cracking day and caught. But no surprise with Aluns reputation. Although the rod holder are wonderful i wish i didnt have the today, all can say is Doh im such a plonker. Just about to set out when an unknown fellow boater could not find the tender to get to his boat on the pontoon, so i offered him a lift to his boat unfortunately it meant passing under tuckton bridge whilst looking for a space to come along side the pontoon i totally forgot about the 5 rods in those sexy rod holders ( sorry Mike ) 2 of them were his and the bridge is not the best thing to test the strength of your rods on. Luckerly only to top eye came off one of Mikes and the other one was ok. As for mine trusty suveran pro boat (my favourite rod ) and an in excess

With a busy weekend ahead and probabley no chance of getting out on the boat a plan was hatched. The afternoon was dragging and the sun was shinning, too nice to be a work so i sneaked off a bit early. So here was the plan, quick load of the boat one rod only, loaded with mackerel feathers. Through Christchurch harbour and out to the ledge an hour mackerelling ready for a BBQ tomorrrow. Back through the harbour up the river to the mooring, quick unload back in font of the tele in time to watch the football. Well almost went to plan except the sun went in, it was a lot rougher than expected. Past PJ on the way back in as he went out. back in front of the telly 20secs into the match. the Problem was i couldnt find the Mackerel, Ive never seen so many fish on the sounder they nearly filled the screen but could i catch one no. Then the rod started to nod and i thought here we go , Pollack's Pollack's and more pollack's atleast 30 caught and just when i start thinking i should keep a couple of the bigger ones i get a single mackerel only to drop it at the boat by now its time to head back in so one last drop. 3 nice sized mackerel and then nothing so time to go in. So not a complete disaster apart from the football so far but not as productive as hoped Mick

Jim You could always let the misses use it as a plant pot and have it as a nice garden feature. Atleast it will get some use !!!!. Some nice trailing plants out of the baguette holder might look good. Mick

Maybe one of the bigger boats with radar can let us know what sort of return it gives Mick

Brian Your boat looks more like mine every day. You will find them very useful they keep the spare rods out of the way whilst fishing Mick

Colin Glad you have finally got her home. For some reason i thought you were collecting her on friday and had planned to watch your maiden voyage. I was hard to keep track on the phone wed pages. I had no idea where she was and just by chance saw her hanging there on tuesday. Cant wait to see her in the water, Mick http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/photoalbum/display...e.php?pos=-2582
