I too will not be at the meeting. I am taking auditions for the Dorset Youth Jazz Orchestra. If anyone has a budding young musician in the family I am always on the lookout for good players.

Ian the New Zealand way would be really good but they follow up with the punishments where as over here it's only a slapped wrist!!!! Don't start me on trawling. I was out a couple of weeks ago with my son who is making a pop video. We were very early, first light, and right in front of us going along the small boat channel of the swash on the training bank side was a Beamer. I didn't have time to get close enough to get his PE number or boat name as we had to get the film done at first light. Just pure greed .

At 0700hrs last Wednesday there was a combined fisheries and police raid at Evening Hill. The target for this raid was the gang of Chinese shell fish gatherers who have been hammering the Clams, mainly Razor Clams. Please be aware it is illegal to take Clams, this includes Razors, without a licence. I have spoken to the fisheries and they confirmed this includes Razors for bait !!!!!

We spend a lot of time fishing on the drift on Boblin and have managed some very good catches over the years. It's an enjoyable way of catching fish. So why is it that there are people out there intent on making it less enjoyable. I'm talking about the prats that decide to start a drift down tide/wind and only a few meters away. I've grown up with drift fishing and there was always an unwritten rule that you always start your drift uptide of someone already on a drift, not muscle in front. This etiquette seems to be completely ignored these days which I think is such a shame. It's not just Wally anglers who don't know what they are doing. We have had a lot experienced anglers in decent boats set their drift just meters down tide of us over the last few weeks. Anyway rant over. Get out there and drift for those red spots there's plenty enough for all this year. Just remember to think of others before you start your drift.

It's great in October come and fish the Festival Bobi and me will be there clambering over the rocks and cliffs. Catching 40lb Conger on the shore is great fun.

Instead of staying indoors with your rod in your hand eh? ;-)

It's the May water it's the worst I have seen for many years. The mackerel don't like it and they tend to stay off shore when it is like this. Once the water clears they will be there.

Common Skate were caught in this area in the sixties along with Monkfish too. Back in the days of the poole festival and the bournemouth festival I remember Brian Morris borrowing a rod reel and gear and going out to fish one of these comps (can't remember which) and returning a cracking Monkfish to win the festival. The weigh in was at the back of Less James's shop in the high street, I don't remember the weight but it was a big un.

We have been struggling for macs too over the last couple of weeks. We only managed three first thing on Sunday, but left a set of feathers dangling when we were at anchor and managed another ten which kept us in fresh bait. I have also noticed this jelly stuff on the line too and the May water is leaving the line all brown. On the plus side though the Ray fishing is brilliant ;-)

Nice one Dave great to see you have realised your dream. It seems such a long time ago that we were on our power boat course together and you were saying that you would like to get a "proper fishing boat" . Bobi and I wish you many years of great fishing long may you bag up with many species and big ones at that. Fantastic have a great trip.

Sad news about Cam. Will never forget the time he got caught fly fishing without a rod licence and he gave the bailiff my name and address cos he knew I always had me licence. I got a visit from the bailiffs and I think they were confused that I was a good foot taller and at least ( at that time) two stone lighter than the bloke they had caught at the trout lake. Any way he got away with it RIP my old mate.

All boat owners beware. Last night Bobi and I were down at North Haven and we noticed a fishing boat going around the moorings with no nav lights on. The night crew on duty at NHYC decided to check out the boat and took the club water taxi to investigate whilst we observed with binoculars. All the time this boat had no lights on but as the taxi approached them they turned on their lights and fish finder which we could clearly see as it was an open boat. The guys on the taxi confronted them and they said they were pinging mullet with their sounder but we are 100% certain that the sounder was not on until the taxi approached them. They had nets and a PE number (which the night watch didn't note which is a shame) in our minds we are certain they were checking out the boats they spent a lot of time around one of the bigger sail boats. In view of it being the boat jumble at Beaulieu this weekend please take extra care and keep your eyes open for any boats in and out of moorings even fishing boats. These guys were definitely up to no good, they cleared off after they were confronted!!!!! Colin

Nige a Cat with outboards is perfect for xchurch. We only draw 27cm. The Cheetah factory is only a few miles from your Undulate mark !! I have brochures here if you want to look. What's wrong with bucket and chuck it, much cheaper and you can sleep anywhere
