  1. Sad news about Cam. Will never forget the time he got caught fly fishing without a rod licence and he gave the bailiff my name and address cos he knew I always had me licence. I got a visit from the bailiffs and I think they were confused that I was a good foot taller and at least ( at that time) two stone lighter than the bloke they had caught at the trout lake. Any way he got away with it RIP my old mate.

    Warning

All boat owners beware. Last night Bobi and I were down at North Haven and we noticed a fishing boat going around the moorings with no nav lights on. The night crew on duty at NHYC decided to check out the boat and took the club water taxi to investigate whilst we observed with binoculars. All the time this boat had no lights on but as the taxi approached them they turned on their lights and fish finder which we could clearly see as it was an open boat. The guys on the taxi confronted them and they said they were pinging mullet with their sounder but we are 100% certain that the sounder was not on until the taxi approached them. They had nets and a PE number (which the night watch didn't note which is a shame) in our minds we are certain they were checking out the boats they spent a lot of time around one of the bigger sail boats. In view of it being the boat jumble at Beaulieu this weekend please take extra care and keep your eyes open for any boats in and out of moorings even fishing boats. These guys were definitely up to no good, they cleared off after they were confronted!!!!! Colin
  4. Jim What about the other time you went out and you used your main engine? Was that ok ?
  5. Nige a Cat with outboards is perfect for xchurch. We only draw 27cm. The Cheetah factory is only a few miles from your Undulate mark !! I have brochures here if you want to look. What's wrong with bucket and chuck it, much cheaper and you can sleep anywhere
  6. Hi Paul A mate did them as a favour for me, I can ask him, but they were done on the qt, so don't hold your breath. Cheers Colin
  7. Really sorry to hear the news Nige. They are out on bail so still keep your guard up. Hanging is to good for them. Colin

    Rust stains

Thanks for the replies oxalic acid it is then, and gloves. I don't intend taking the rails off this time but will make a note to take them off and a good polish in the future. The worst of the rust is coming from the rails fitted by cheetah, I was careful to give the ones we made and fitted a good polish and fitted them with sikaflex. Thanks again Colin

    Rust stains

Can anyone tell me what is good for removing rust stains off of gelcoat. Boblin is in for her free engine service (open prize) next week so while she is out of the water we want to give her a good clean. The rust stains are where the rails are bolted through the fordeck. Cheers Colin
  13. Ok Dave will bring it tonight Bobi thinks it might be to long for you Colin
  14. We are at North Haven and really pleased to be there. 24hr use of the club house which has a well equipped kitchen, showers, underfloor heating and free water. We are insured 12 months no prob. As Chris said there is a taxi during the season and dingies all year. It's very friendly and there are a lot of experienced boaters always on hand for help or advice. Also it is CHEAP !!! I don't think you will find cheaper anywhere in this area. If anyone is interested get on with it because the vacant moorings will fill up very quickly. Colin
  15. Mustad Viking two piece floatation suit medium in brand new condition worn twice never fished.
  16. With the wind like it was last night our thoughts were for Boblin out on her mooring. This morning Bobi went off to work and I was off to check out Boblin and make sure all was ok. I took my time a late breakfast and was just about to head down to North Haven when the phone went, it was Bobi asking me to ring the insurance company. Not the boat but the car !! A tree fell on top of it in the car park. Thankfully Bobi was not in the car. Just hope the damage isn't terminal, roof, side panel and rear hatch. Great start to 2012 eh? Still the main thing is the boat is ok. Colin
  17. Merry Christmas to everyone. We are off to fish the harbour in a mo any one out there we will be on ch6. Colin and Bobi

    Castaways

About 0900hrs Tim isn't always the most punctual of people. Colin
  19. This post was put up by Coddy to remember the crew of the life boat. Very brave and selfless men who lost their lives trying to save the crew of the stricken coaster. I think it is very disrespectful to highjack this post to start sniping at the RNLI. If you want to voice your thoughts please start your own post. Colin

  24. Good luck to all taking part. Sorry to say we will not be fishing as we are working. Colin
  25. All my schools were on strike yesterday and the weather was fine in the morning so I just had to get out for a few hours. Cut n Covers were coming to measure up for my prize from the open at 1400 so had to be back at North Haven to meet Wayne. I headed off to the castle to see if I could bag a big wrasse. I had no crew so was happy to mooch around in the harbour (Bobi was working). Fishing was slow 2 drifts not a bite then on 3rd drift bang something big was on the end it fought hard and sorry to say after a couple of minutes we parted company. I had several more drifts but didn't hook into anything. So change location up the channel for a couple more drifts, nothing. By now it was time to head back and meet Wayne, he was there waiting when I got back and he got on and measured up for the covers( more about these some other time). I took Boblin back out to the mooring and while I was packing up chucked out a line. Everything was put away and I was just about to pack the rod away when something took off like a train. To cut a long story short 3lb bass. The net was in the cabin packed away I could just get hold of the handle and play the fish with both arms fully outstretched luckily the net didn't catch on anything and the bass was safely netted. So bass for tea. I still had a few worms so chucked out again and a few mins later I hooked another passing train great fun in 3ft of water this one went just under 4lb. So one more chuck and then I must go I packed all my bits into the dinghy except the rod. then locked up the boat to give my last chuck as long as possible in the water. No train hit this time, but as I picked up the rod to reel in it felt a bit heavy and started pulling back. No bass this time but a nice fat flounder of 1.5lb. So for all you guys who haven't been able to get out TOUGH Colin
