  2. THE AUSTRALIAN APPROACH A young Aussie lad moved to London and went to Harrods looking for a job. The manager asked 'Do you have any sales experience?' The young man answered 'Yeah, I was a salesman back home in Dubbo.' The manager liked the Aussie so he gave him the job. His first day was challenging and busy, but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the manager came down and asked, 'OK, so how many sales did you make today?' The Aussie said 'One!' The manager groaned and continued, 'Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales a day. How much was the sale for?' '124,237pounds & 64 pence.' The manager choked and exclaimed '124,237.64!! What the hell did you sell him?' 'Well, first I sold him a small fish hook, then a medium fish hook and then I sold him a new fishing rod.' 'Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down at the coast, so I told him he would need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him that twin-engine Power Cat.' 'Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to car sales and I sold him the 4 x4

  12. My isolators have removable switches. So I doubt if anyone had been at them. I shall just have to keep an eye on it. Colin
  13. Well have been monitoring the motor all week. It has stayed up so I am none the wiser. I have taken on board about the manual lock and as of yesterday they are now on the locks. Just hope I remember to unlock them before I try to lower them down. Colin
  14. There is a big Algi bloom at the moment this is normal for this time of year, That's why it's called May Water. It's a beach fishing nightmare there is usually no fish in the bloom and your line gets covered in brownish slime, not nice. If it is May Water you were in I would opt to move out past it and fish clearer water. Colin
  15. Yeah I look after my crew With regards to working an Alderney bouy on your own just take your time and think through what you are going to do and don't rush things. If things go wrong abort and start again. Good luck. Colin

    Bream

Mike I agree 500% !!!!! I expect half of these fish don't even make it to the table they get pushed into the freezer and forgotten about and end up in the bin!!! A lot of these anglers are like children in a sweet shop they just have to take everything. There are also the anglers who sell or barter their catch who should be stopped too. It is not only Bream that should have bag limits Mr Spikey is hammered all summer long too!!!!! But it will never work as we all know. Who would police a bag limit??? Colin

    Wishin update

Nige I don't know how to break the news to you but you had better have a close look at your species list Colin
  19. Rob we have very expensive locks on but that wont stop anyone if they really want them. It was my first thought that someone might be after the motor when I saw it down. Will be looking again tomorrow. Colin
  20. I did think that too Alun but the batteries were isolated and the rocker switch doesn't work when they are switched off. I tried it just to be sure though. Colin
  21. Thanks all I got down today and the motor is still fully up. I have more time tomorrow so if the wind is not too bad I will check out the manual relief screw(go on Jim) and check for any visible leaks. Colin
  22. Rob It lifted back up on the button no prob. I lowered and raised it a couple of times . I will be able to get down tomorrow lunch time and check if it stays up tonight. I will have to have a look and see if there is a big screw anywhere( go on Jim you know you want to) Colin
  23. We went to check on Boblin this evening after the blow we have been having. We rowed out to her and one of the motors was down. It was up on Sunday when we last saw her. Am I right in thinking this will be an Hydraulic leak or could anything else cause this to happen. The batteries were isolated. Any ideas where I should start looking? Cheers Colin
