  4. My isolators have removable switches. So I doubt if anyone had been at them. I shall just have to keep an eye on it. Colin
  5. Well have been monitoring the motor all week. It has stayed up so I am none the wiser. I have taken on board about the manual lock and as of yesterday they are now on the locks. Just hope I remember to unlock them before I try to lower them down. Colin
  6. There is a big Algi bloom at the moment this is normal for this time of year, That's why it's called May Water. It's a beach fishing nightmare there is usually no fish in the bloom and your line gets covered in brownish slime, not nice. If it is May Water you were in I would opt to move out past it and fish clearer water. Colin
  7. Yeah I look after my crew With regards to working an Alderney bouy on your own just take your time and think through what you are going to do and don't rush things. If things go wrong abort and start again. Good luck. Colin
  8. Graham just shut your eyes and have a sleep it seems to be Niggle's top tactic Colin

    Bream

Mike I agree 500% !!!!! I expect half of these fish don't even make it to the table they get pushed into the freezer and forgotten about and end up in the bin!!! A lot of these anglers are like children in a sweet shop they just have to take everything. There are also the anglers who sell or barter their catch who should be stopped too. It is not only Bream that should have bag limits Mr Spikey is hammered all summer long too!!!!! But it will never work as we all know. Who would police a bag limit??? Colin

    Wishin update

Nige I don't know how to break the news to you but you had better have a close look at your species list Colin
  11. Rob we have very expensive locks on but that wont stop anyone if they really want them. It was my first thought that someone might be after the motor when I saw it down. Will be looking again tomorrow. Colin
  12. I did think that too Alun but the batteries were isolated and the rocker switch doesn't work when they are switched off. I tried it just to be sure though. Colin
  13. Thanks all I got down today and the motor is still fully up. I have more time tomorrow so if the wind is not too bad I will check out the manual relief screw(go on Jim) and check for any visible leaks. Colin
  14. Rob It lifted back up on the button no prob. I lowered and raised it a couple of times . I will be able to get down tomorrow lunch time and check if it stays up tonight. I will have to have a look and see if there is a big screw anywhere( go on Jim you know you want to) Colin
  15. We went to check on Boblin this evening after the blow we have been having. We rowed out to her and one of the motors was down. It was up on Sunday when we last saw her. Am I right in thinking this will be an Hydraulic leak or could anything else cause this to happen. The batteries were isolated. Any ideas where I should start looking? Cheers Colin

  20. Our Cheetah loves the water!! We return nearly all fish only keeping a couple for the table and macs for bait. We don't catch fish for other people if friends request fish they are politely told NO but they are invited to come out and catch some for themselves. Too many fish are kept and passed on to mates or put in the freezer only to be chucked out next season. Well done Pete for getting this debate going even if one person reads this thread and thinks that could be me and next time returns a few more fish than they normally would it has done some good. I must say in defence of the bigger Cheetah moored at the quay we had a visit from her whilst fishing the swash for Plaice and all boats were approached and asked that they were aware of the size limits. Wishin update

Hi Nige Back from Spain now and just caught up with the thread. Contact Quicksilver and mention "FIT FOR PURPOSE". There have been other cases that they have sorted and they are now fitting different pistons. Don't take NO for an answer the engine and it's fitting is not fit for purpose it dosn't matter that it is out of gaurantee. From what I have been told they have made repairs at their cost. It's got to be worth a couple of phone calls mate. Colin

    Antifouling

I was lucky enough to have a dinghy given to me (with hole in) and i have nearly finished the work on it. I was wondering if anyone had a part tin of anti foul they wanted to get rid of I only need enough for a 9' 6'' dinghy. Cheers Colin
