  1. I've only posted this yesterday on Anglers Afloat and already its been read over 100 times. I hope to have 30 + come and join in . Ill have a whip round for the RNLI . I hope to make this an annual event on the AA calendar . I am putting this together as an individual, that way it keeps PBSBAC out of any responsibility or liability in case of unforeseen problems. I'm sure on the day ill be able to rope one of you old sea dogs into being a safety boat . Not much can happen that can't be sorted out on the kayak but a slip of a knife or a wayward hook ??? I'm a trained first aider and not afraid of other people's blood so should something happen ill be on it. Thanks to the club for the tackle donation , that will be awarded on the day. I might try and squeeze a trophy out of club funds too Here's to a brilliant 2013 afloat Lofty
  2. New for 2013 is a spring meet to get everyone motivated for Summer :-X Having some PBSBAC goodies donated for a prize I've decided to organize a meet, a kayak anglers get together, that I intend to use the goodies for. I've teamed up with Bournemouth fishing lodge to promote our sport with some nice goodies for 1st Plaice(pun intended) and other bits and bobs. This will run along the successful format of the flounder meet. Yakkers will register on the cliff top at Southbourne from 8am ,will take a number and can then go and fish from Boscombe to the Coast Guard hut at Hengistbury head .Most will launch from Southbourne but the parking can be a pain so first come, first served. There is also a pay parking with height restrictions further along towards Boscombe and parking near the pier. I've put a limit to the area as beyond the coastguard hut can potentially be trouble for beginners. When i get some time i will post tides , accommodation parking restrictions etc .If you have this info feel free to post. BFL are really up for this so it should be a great meet with the bonus of never really knowing what Southbourne can throw out. It would be great if on the day we could have a PBSBAC members boat on hand for a safety boat should anything go wrong? Looking forward to meeting friends old and new.
  3. I was gutted to have to work. How did it go?
  4. Flounder comp part 2. Sunday 23rd.If its doable for the harbour I'd like to have a go. 1. Lofty, (not sure of company yet)
  5. Sorry. Work load won't allow it. Another window I hope. Tight lines all
  6. It's a pity but that decision was made by the organisers and sponsors. I'm sure the competitors would have liked 4th, 5th, 6th,7th, but hey ho. Bizarrely Bournemouth canoes didn't want the magazine article either so saves me a lot of effort. It will probably be in one of the mags as Simon Everett who writes for them won the comp. Prizes and bolotics aside though it was a well organised meet and everyone had a great day, even though there were several capsizes. I want to thank the club for its support for us Yakkers and I hope to promote our sport/ pastime with the clubs assistance in 2013. Ten knots was a good / safe towing speed so Im up for Alderney Rob
  7. On Saturday between 30-40 hardy kayak anglers met at Lake Pier for the annual flounder meet. As is becoming traditional at this event the weather was horrible , wet and windy, but being Poole harbour was perfectly doable so we all signed in and launched about 9 o clock. This year the event was sponsored by Bournemouth canoes and although our club donated some nice bits of tackle, I was asked not to donate it as they were the exclusive sponsors. If its ok with the club ill hang on to it and organise an open kayak plaice chase from Southbourne in March? The fishing was hit and miss. The crabs were in plague proportions. Leaving the worms down for a couple of minutes we'd be pulling up football sized balls of crabs. I swapped over to float fishing but still had nothing. I went on the drift with spoons and beads. Nothing. As for the rest it was a mixed bag but one chap found the right tackle( a simple hook length, no beads, spoons etc) and he had 7 around the pound and a half mark near Rockley point. Half a dozen anglers caught with the winners fish just under 2 lbs. Ben Savilles family organised this event and provided hot dogs and burgers in the carpark and everyone gathered for the awarding of the three prizes. It was a good meet and rounds the kayak meets up nicely for 2012. Here's a few pictures and a video I took of myself testing out what speeds kayaks can be comfortably towed with the help of the RNLI rib Lofty

  15. I'm not sure but I think it's RNLI. It's Bens show and I know he raised a fair bit last time. As I'm writing it up for BFM they're giving a years subscription and Aswatersports have given me a couple of bits. It's a bit of fun but if someone goes home with a prize that's good for them. I hope to put on something similar next year with the clubs support?
  16. I know there is a grey area here re- Ben , but there are still quite a few locals going to this, should be around 30-40 in total, and it would be nice if PBSBAC could stick something in the prize pot, a donation of goodwill, to show the Anglers Afloat members our support?. Doesn't have to set the world on fire, but a gesture would be nice in my opinion. Over to you Ps. Not been contacted by Alex yet.
  17. Pinged her an email with my contact no.
  18. Very comprehensively. Myself and a few other kayakers will be at the December meet next Thursday if you want a chat.
  19. I've re read this a dozen times and don't understand why the eu wants to know how much kayaking is worth in Poole.
  20. This one is the kayak "record" done on honour through AA as it officially comes under boat. We were talking about this in Kent a few weeks ago and it couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.
  21. This is lifted from a mates post today on Anglers Afloat Thought you'd like a read of Dans day
  22. I was out Friday afternoon in the bay. It was a struggle and couldn't buy a bite. Saw a huge raft of rope float by, maybe 10x 15 feet circular. Too heavy for me to drag in so had to let it go. Sorry chaps as that will f#ck somebody's props . Water was expectedly nasty. Well done all who got the window .
