I gave a trip in an auction for Julia’s house and Air Ambulance before Covid. After cancelling 3 times due to bad weather November 5th looked good. Hard frost and grit on the marina added to the day as a beautiful sunrise appeared. Two anglers appeared, who even though they insisted they were fishermen it transpired Mackerel trips on family holidays were the extent of there experience. No worries, saw Fisheagle at the bridges, tried to call at various times on 6 but no response throughout the day. Probably catching too many fish😜 The guys wanted to catch Bass, after a fruitless hour+ we gave up trying to get live bait, so headed east where we struggled. Superb weather and the two anglers managed Bass to 56cms 4-5lbs, Tub Gurnard and LSD. Certainly not a red letter day but they were over the moon, incredible amount of baitfish in the water which we could not identify or match. Hooky appeared at the bridges having had a day out. Cobbs had no water so no wash down, funny old world!!!!!

It is quite incredible how the powers that be cannot see the wood for the trees. I think it’s quite depressing, the last two years, has, in my eyes seen a good resurgence in Bass numbers and size in year groups, then they do this.???????? 😡

Autumn/Winter Fishing Competitions
jerry.shutter replied to jerry.shutter's topic in Competition Talk
Hi Neil, I have chatted to other committee members and this has arisen before. It was suggested to have a weigh in to have a bit more of a social occasion and maybe something to eat. As Poole is the centre of the earth for PBSBAC 🤣🤣🤣 it has been suggested to continue with the weigh in and if you can txt me by 4pm the day of the Comp then your fish can go into the results, which should be given around 5pm that day. I think this is the best option for keeping as many members happy as we can, I hope you agree. Tight Lines Jerry -

We had an extra crew member as Kev joined us on Sunday. We found jumbo Mackerel and school Bass from the off, Kev kept catching too many Bass when we wanted bait!!! just out of East Looe channel. We found Fisheagle and crew catching live baits and moved on after we added a few. Slow start things got going last two hours of the flood we had four over 6lbs best coming to me 6-8 and J2 had one 6-3. Beautiful day and on the way home more jumbo Mackerel and some Plaice and Dabs with two nice keeper Plaice. Stunning day with lots of Bass but no monsters, the Mackerel were really welcome.

Looking at the weather Saturday looks not so good so be careful if that’s your chosen day. Sunday looks very much favourable. Good luck to everyone entering.
