I escalated this through the official channels this morning. I saw a similar thing earlier this year with a lot of fish carcasses all over the slip of the RNLI Museum on the quay. There was some shifty woman selling fish out of polystyrene boxes in the fenced off bit of fisherman's dock, and shifty bloke with her tried to tell me the seal had left all the fish carcasses. When I said the seal seemed to be very handy with a filleting knife, he sloped off and jumped into a wagon in the fisherman's car park. This is a much bigger scale though, and there would appear to be protected species amongst them. Is that a Tope? Also, aren't there regulations regarding Salmon? I can't believe this is legal activity, even if only from an Environmental Health/illegal dumping of waste perspective. Will report back if/when I hear more.

The Sussex, Isle Wight and Hampshire branches of the Angling Trust are working together to raise awareness, concern and get action taken to conserve Black Bream stocks for which they have noted a massive decline in catches. They would welcome your help and assistance in this and therefore they also wish to know if Dorset anglers are experiencing the same problem. From posts made on this forum, I would say that we are. Whilst my own angling history is relatively short, I recall Breaming being more productive even 7 years ago. Please could you leave your experiences of Breaming this year on this thread- with your comparisons/memories of previous years. Try to avoid leaving those rosy memories which may be less reliable! If you could also leave your theories of why Breaming is worse now in our favourite spots than in previous years, that would be great please. Especially if you witness any unsustainable practices being carried out by '3rd parties' whilst you are out on the water. Equally if you see any good practice, please share that too! I imagine feedback on this thread would be primarily from anglers in PBSBAC waters but if any of you go further afield, or are based further west into Dorset, please feel free to post here. The weather has once again been doing its bit for the conservation of fish stocks, by not letting anyone out to fish. It’s been pretty rough around our coasts though- so we’ll have to see what our underwater and inshore features look like once these low pressures finally stop rolling in. One thing which has come to the fore is, once again, plastics pollution. Tons of plastic waste of all sizes has been washed up on our beaches and there have been a number of work-parties formed to collect what they can. Maybe consider joining in with one! Hi All Yep, love the way those Congers smash up the bait! The bait cam was part of the studies into the flora and fauna colonisation of the surf reef. Some of you may remember I went to a talk about it last year and there is a video of the talk on one of the links below. The bait cam was put down in a few locations around the Bay to compare what was living on the surf reef to what was living in other places. Aaarrrgghh! Just noticed this post! At the December meeting I agreed with Mr Chairman and Neal, who was down to do a talk at the Feb meeting, that Peter Tinsley from Dorset Wildlife Trust would come to the Feb meeting to talk to us about Poole Rocks MCZ (and MCZ's in general). Peter has emailed today to confirm- is this now going to cause a problem/clash? It's been pretty hard to find a time when he's available...
