  1. So what are the final positions then...
  2. Well done to the proud parents!
  3. Feel free to tip some at mine!
  4. Happy Birthday Mr D!
  5. Great work Dan! I don't know much about fishing, but does doing an impression of a dalek help?
  6. We (Rob Francis, my Dad Trevor and I) had a leisurely start to the day and launched without incident at Baiter. (Although we had some maniac in a white van to contend with by Poole Park) After launching we were just heading out the channel and nearing the fuel barge when we heard Dave on the radio and responded to his call for assistance. About an hour later, with Dave and Bill and Lady Christine back on their mooring, we were passing the chain ferry and heading towards Swanage for the afternoon. It wasn't the most comfortable day out, but Star Turn handled the sea conditions fine, the Opti pushing us along at about 17 knots without any problems at all. We spent the day on numerous drifts in Swanage Bay picking up mackerel every now and again, and then we anchored up when the sea smoothed out a bit. Sadly no rays came to the surface. Our baits were getting chewed but not sure what by. Rob and I both had something heavy on the end of the line a couple of times but nothing made it up to the daylight. Might have just been relatives of Neal's rock... Rob had a couple of doggies later in the day but that was it. We saw Imagine shoot past late in the afternoon, but was pretty quiet otherwise. We had a nice day in the sunshine, although not as calm as I normally like! Star Turn handled the trip back very well, the waves at Old Harry were the biggest I think she has encountered in her 28 years! But we came out the other side in good time and made a steady 20 knots back to the harbour, then back to Baiter (where we discovered that the ladder had decided to go and visit Neptune) and home. Well done to all who got out and got into the fish. And thanks to Rob for his continued assistance and guidance, helping us get the best from Star Turn.
  7. Star Turn with myself, Trevor Annear and Rob Francis.
  8. Thanks buddy! Is that in Poole Rob?
  9. The FPO went in last week and said she'd be back (was in the small car and I wanted 3m brake rod- they didn't mention they were closing. She went back on Friday- they were closed. We thought maybe they were at the Boat Show. No signs to the contrary. She went yesterday and the sign in the door said "Your nearest branch is Southampton" and the shop was empty.
  10. As it says in the title. Is there somewhere else in Poole to get trailer parts, for those occasions when you need something 'yesterday'?
  11. Cheers Trev, is that soil or the concrete that we talked about before? Turns out the bloke opposite me had about 8 tons of concrete rubble lurking in his back garden, 6 tons of which is now in my front garden! I've been layering rubble and soil, but I've run out of soil...
  12. I'm still in need of a couple of tons of soil, if anyone is still trying to get rid of any?

    Police!

I'm from Bodmin and all the street names etc are true. Just need to find out who wrote it!
  14. Forgot to respond to this, sorry! It's a thick PVC canvas, no specified guarantee but I'm sure Cut N Cover would say their materials and work are designed to last. It certainly looks to be the case. Price would depend on boat size and complexity. My boat is almost 18' long and this cover was very competitively priced. Over this latest period of inclement weather the cover has kept the boat very well protected and the cockpit and cabin are bone dry.
  15. Perhaps it was calmer further out then, because it was not too good anchored up by RFA Mounts Bay. And ST struggled on the way back from between the piers to the chain ferry. And too many boats = no fish.
  16. Just had bait for tea for the second day in a row! Hope to reel in at least one bass tomorrow then! Any recommendations for gurnard Alun?
  17. It has video out, but we haven't got anything (camcorder or similar) to connect it to...
  18. Can't take credit for the photos, they're all down to Rob "Look At My Big Lens" Francis
  19. I can still feel the heat from this! Sam hasn't seen "fire coming out the back" of a plane before!
  20. I agree Fred, the Eurofighter is deafening and mind-blowing at the same time. It was us who waved to you every time you went past!
  21. All your hard work will soon come to fruition. It's already like November outside!
  22. Good tip Tom. The photos may not show it, but on this cover the gradients on the cover mean that rainwater runs off- there's nowhere for it to collect.
  23. Same here, got a hose and can never get near the taps!
  24. Well, with new windscreen fitted (ask Rob ) and a dry day or two at last, Darren came over with his mate and some pattern paper, and 24 hours later... The cover extends all the way over the bow roller, and down over the rubbing strip on the sides, and out over the outboard to the rear, with nowhere for the rainwater to collect on the top. Quick gallery This was done by Darren at Cut and Cover. They came and measured up the boat on my driveway and very quickly delivered and fitted the finished product. And I'm very pleased with the result! I expect it will now be 6 months without a drop of rain. You can thank me if that's the case! I haven't put the contact details on here as I don't want to be told off for advertising , however, Darren will be in communication with Paul D over some sort of interaction with the club. C.
  25. Would love to go out, and Sat doesn't make a difference, but due to the extended period of duff weather I unfortunately have other priorities stacked up, some of which I can't get done on a Sunday.
