    Petrol quality

Nigel, The "Premium" grades have contained ethanol for quite some time ( especially Tesco etc. ). Works fine in the Etec mind as I have always filled with the higher octane stuff thinking it was a good idea ! Mind you no valves to destroy The other problem worth noting is for those who have fibreglass tanks. The ethanol in the fuel leeches out chemicals from the fibreglass and this then can cause engine damage. Also ethanol absorbs water, so this is one of the reasons it is not good in aircraft as they could then be prone to icing. Not an issue with a boat I would guess. Diverdave, I think you will have to get used to more "green" fuels - changed fuel as oil gets more scarce, this is the real reason - its a fact of life. "Low emissions cost us big time" is so untrue. I recall driving a Ford Anglia doing 25 MPG if lucky - Old style 2 stroke ( say a nice mercury blueband ) would be hugely more expensive to run and maintain than a modern day 2 stroke. Besides, I like boating through water which no longer has a sheen of oil across it.

  13. Having recently read this: http://www.planetseafishing.com/features/r...ht-black-bream/ I personally would leave the females, as they have yet to "swap over" to become a male and breed, And one male can look after a group of females, being replaced when he dies / ends up in the cooking pot! Freaky fish.... Dan and I mentioned this on Alfresco and all they did was take the pi$$
  14. Fishing with PJ I stuck a sabiki into my finger past the barb. Decided to push further in and bend it around so that the point came back out my thumb from the inside, then cut the barb off with some pliers ( good job PJ is well equipped ) and then pulled the hook back out the way it went in. Stung a bit but wasnt too bad considering
  15. Even more belated happy birthday here. Hope the river cottage was good.

    Two seats

Craig, Do you think they will fit on a swivel type thing that the seats on Orkney's use ? If so then definitely interested.
  17. Tony, Have a great birthday All the best Paul and Helen
  18. Tim, Glad you got back OK. I am sure you will enjoy her. Going through the run was interesting when I picked up a huge tree right at the wrong time ( i.e. in 1 ft water ! ) but I am sure it was all good practice for you navigating through the run at low water .....

    what boat

Indeed - I would agree with that. Enticer had a 90HP did she not and that just flew but possibly a little overpowered. Just taken Neo out with Tommo to see "Just Purfick heading off to Newhaven" having rewired Neo I wanted to make sure all was OK before going further afield. ETec started first time after 3 months layup. Mind you the tachometer appears to have given up the ghost for now I just love the ETec and particularily the fact I can leave it 3 years between major services. Mind you a 60HP E-Tec will be cheaper than the 75HP and lighter, since the 60HP is a twin, whereas the 75HP is 3 cylinder but personally I would rather have the extra power to hand.
  20. Mike, I would happily do that normally but this sunday I am busy, so can't fish then:(
  21. Also looking to get down to the shambles but work gets in the way

    Landing nets

I could get from Tommo for you Craig and hand over "en-route" to Alderney if this helps ? Will be on Serenity so if you are buddying up can hand over then ??

    Topknot

It is now on the list on the website but needs recording with the Fish Recorder.
  25. Rob, I think it does and the lazy line is attached to the winching eye then clipped onto the anchor rope such that there is enough length to run from winching eye to the clip when boat is anchored. Other end of lazy line then goes around to side of boat. Of course, happy to be corrected
