  1. Glad you had a good birthday martin. Happy returns and Bournemouth even got another win to celebrate
  2. Ah but have you been to see your other "customers" and spent that cheque I gave you yet
  3. Tom, I know where you are coming from - even though Neo costs nothing to keep on the trailer,it is frustrating not being able to get out much ( mainly due to the weather and having to work all hours god sends ). Sometimes, I am tempted to sell her, but then the weather gets better and I get out and then wonder why the thought even crossed my mind !
  4. This on the RYA site implies that there is a dispensation for boats with petrol tank which is connected to the engine. RYA Advice
  5. Looking to upgrade the forum and web site. Rob in particular might like the following IPB Iphone
  6. Agree there are some reservations. However, by taking the average this makes the fact that more members in the club / more reports now as less relevant. ( i.e. The average size is still an average - although, agree if only one fish reported then this does become meaningless. ) Also, I am aware that people wont bother reporting smaller fish possibly ( eg. 7 lb cod ) whereas maybe nowadays they do. ( This means the average is reduced and could be purely down to this ). Interesting looking at the maximum size fish reported as well though ..... ( coming soon ) Also, interesting looking at when fish are caught ( very useful ) and this is definitely showing trends which tell you when to go fishing ( To the extent that future reports which I will generate will be in a club only area. )
  7. As an example. Cod fishing ..... Is this year the best for years ? - Is it as good as in the past ? The reports indicate that although it is improved it still has some way to go. Average weight of cod caught per year .
  8. Charlie, Indeed - It is actually very interesting. I will add a few more and will show at next club meeting if I remember to bring my laptop
  9. Having got a complete set of catch reports now allows me to do all sorts of weird and wonderful things with the data. For example we can see what the best months for targetting particular species are. Here is an example for Plaice :
  10. Many thanks to Brian for populating all the catch reports from the books and amalgamating with the existing reports. These have now been uploaded and after a few "tweaks" are now in the catch report viewer. Quite a useful archive I would say. Also the Club Records are now available automatically generated from the reports, so these are now definitive - The records are available HERE
  11. Send email by 28th jan
  12. Onn Castletown slipway dont drive onto what looks like hard packed sand in a rear wheel drive car ..... I had a close escape last year and nearly watched my company car get submerged...... Slipway is OK apart from that - Alun J uses it a lot I believe.
  13. 462,000 signed up to the petition now ! and it appears to be increasing at something like 20 per min when I last looked
  14. Be interesting how he will ever be able to cover a sea angling story on his dead boring programme ever again. Shan't bother giving him the time of day.
  15. Tesco's didn't come out too well. They need to start stocking rod and line caught tuna. But I also note that Sainsburys also stock the Princes stuff and it is of course cheaper, but hopefully people will think twice before buying.

    Broadband Radar

As Niggle was indicating, according to the spec sheet for the Lowrance BR24 radar it uses a total of 19 Watts operating and 2W in standby ( 150 mA ). The scanner itself has a power output of 0.026 watts !! From a Lowrance presentation : Power Requirements Power consumption transmitting is only 17 W 30% less than a 2 kW radar 50% less than a 4 kW radar Power consumption in standby is only 1.6 W Presentation

    Fog Caution!

Had the sea fog roll in when fishing on the Clan whilst buddying "That Dam Boat" and it was most worrying. We saw a yacht come through the fog with a lookout on the stern and they were well close before coming into visibility. Would I do it again. If it was already foggy then no way, but often it comes form nowhere.
  21. Ditto here, must give them a try as not far from me either and with so many recommendations got to be worth a try. ( Although I notice they are variable on other web sites - so only one way to try them out : )
  22. If you like Italian then we always go to La Mamma restaurant on Bridge Street in Christchurch ( only realised 5 years later that they sponsor the buoys on the harbour ! ) It's been there years and I cannot recommend it enough. If you let them know it is a special occasion you will also get a cake / Sparklers or whatever brought out as well. Book though as it is really popular ( esp on Fri / weekend )
  23. Maybe they should stick to kayaking in the Upper Hamble, much safer !
  24. Yes - If I can get crew
