  5. Unfortunately not able to go out today as been up at the in laws and got back a bit late. Fog was horrendous, so suspect this may be a problem today ??
  6. Happy to buddy up if you like. Planning on going out from Christchurch (Wick) prob around 8 or 9 ish ( crew coming from afar and with neaps no need for early start ). Will know exact time once I contact my crew.
  7. Me too. Off to WH Smith in the morning I think
  8. Helen just informed me it was your birthday. Hope you enjoy it. All the best Paul
  9. Just seeing Craig's post has reminded me of one highlight which we still talk about at work. The trip to the ripps cod fishing on Abode II has to be one of the most memorable trips. It was Craig's first long distance trip and myself and work colleague Steve were Craig's "experienced" crew , much to Charlie C's amusement We had an absolute field day with the best ever cod fishing trip I have ever had adn we only fished for 3 hours. Absolutely the most memorable trip to date, and a right laugh.
  10. Nice one Bob. I bet you were well chuffed.
  11. Have a great birthday
  12. Does this mean less or more fuel for your "Fuel Donkey" to carry
  13. I hope that pic is not taken going up Christchurch Harbour ?
  14. Noooo - I was banking on you asking for crew
  15. I am sure she will go quickly, had some good trips on her and some great memories.
  16. Topeing in Alderney on Just Purfick. Meeting up with some great new friends via the fishing club. Learning how to sea fish. ( 10 years ago I only fished in the harbour ). Taking my friends out and helping to get them their first ever fish. Taking my nephew out and seeing his face when he hooked into a sizeable Conger. Watching my friend land his first ever sole which happened to be over 4lb.
  17. Nice to hear from you mark. Good to see life in new zealand is enjoyable. I bet you are not missing the cold weather here ! best wishes for christmas Paul

    SQL

Im have informed the hosts but they know about the issue. You can get dedicated servers where you have your very own server or a shared one ( which we have ). With a shared one we are at the mercy of other customers apps affecting performance. AS in all things in life, you pays your money and takes your choice. Up to now they have been very good with occasional problems but I have noted issues over last few weeks ( starts with site becoming slow to respond ). It could easily be factors outside their control - eg. hacking attempt or whatever. or maybe all there attachments being opened

    SQL

Its the SQL server on the website - nothing I can do about it unless we pay
  20. The actual takeover of the Search and Rescue by a private company is not actually new, this was put out to contract some time back. article from 2007
  21. I need to order some more squid as well. Freezer is now empty apart from 1/2 box Ilex and a box of loligo. Think an order for some more is needed. We were fishing Ilex "tipped" with loligo but I literally had just the one bite for first 3 hours.
  22. Nice one Gordon. I actually fished a mark I haven't tried before ( as opposed to my "secret" mark which is a bit further to the west. This other mark produced the one cod but when PJ turned up it went all quiet ( I was slack water though ). PJ did kindly throw us over a frozen mackeral which did the business as whiting bait. Lovely day to be out on the water and please you landed another cod. Big improvement on previous years. Thinking about it, I struggled to catch cod before last year. ( 3 in total over 4 or 5 years up to then ). Last year had a fair few and this year have had 3 from 3 trips
  23. Was very slow but had only the one bite initially which bent the rod and put up a great fight... 15lb of prime winter cod Then that was virtually it apart from a solitary whiting.
  24. Will be out on Neo. Will give you a shout on Ch.6 Probably staying over christchurch way but may venture towards needles if not too rough

    Cod rigs

I use 8/0 Varivas and a sliding pennel. However, had a couple of fish fail to "hook up" this year already. Best hook ups I have had are where I have been fishing single ( large ) ilex and the fish has taken ages to engulf the bait then "hammered off" = rod bends over and I presume hook gets set. ( Although over other side of the island I lost one like this as well - always amazes me how you can feel so much weight of the fish yet the hook is not "fully home" ? )
