  1. Must admit I never have used a Lazy Line and I never need to access the hatch ( unless I am anchoring in much shallower water than normal when I reduce the length of Anchor rope ). I just lower the anchor over the side and when retrieving pick up the anchor rope from the side also. You can always tie off the anchor on a side cleat as well ?, eliminating the need to go anywhere near the bow at all. ( As in run through the bow but tied off on cleat from the side of the boat ).
  2. Anyone still looking for accommodation, Alderney Angling have 2 spare beds.
  3. Have a good birthday Dan and don't get too hammered !

  6. mark you ommitted to tell our friend on teh forum that you are in Auckland NZ Nice fish though mate Charlie Could have had some fun there working out where to go to catch them
  7. Well done Peter, I was thinking how cold you must have been when I saw the frost that evening.
  8. So should have applied to the MCA vessel that nearly ran in to me whilst drifting a wreck on end of the shambles as that was certainly over 12metres and the two guys were fishing off the back of it ....I should have thought to have brought that up at the time !
  9. Hi - Have an ETec 40 and had absolutely no problems with it Actually only problem I recall was the cover clip broke but this was replaced under warranty. Starts first time everytime and has been frugal on the fuel. Little bit noisier than an equivalent 4 stroke apart from that little difference and I like the lack of servicing costs for 3 years Finally the acceleration from standing is superb as oodles of torque. Would buy again South Coast marine - excellent guys - I had mine from L&J marine but they no longer do evinrude so South Coast do servicing now for me ( well the one I have needed ). They are a good family business - I broke a steering cable once and they repaired it while I waited and saved me a whole days fishing
  10. Looking at the Thanet one ( which is huge ! ) there was a 500m exclusion zone whilst construction was under way and then they wanted a 50m one around each pylon but RYA are contesting this as no legislation ( I think ).
  11. Is that going to be permanently or presumably just while it is being built and cables are being laid ? Where is this information ? Personally, I actually look forward to there being a wind farm. It can only be of benefit to the fishing. ( trawler free zone with plenty of structures to attract fish. )

Note : Some questions raised by a few club members : Presumably if taken by a club member it would immediately put their club membership into the "conflict of interest" category ? What is the stance on club members selling their fish ( because that is presumably where this could take us ? ) I am sitting on the fence here but having received a number of messages - also need to consider :- "do we want people advertising catching fish for sale on our site" ?
  17. I didn't even know that was on there ! On our fantastic sand eels - hmmm. I caught it on a whole Large Ilex Squid Still trying to work out who the phone number is for the club on the links page ??
  18. and the answer is :- Penny, Many thanks for the fast response. I will put your reply on our forum as one of our members is considering making the trip in his 18ft Raider. He has 150 litre tanks in total but will know nearer the time, since being a smaller boat he will be more dependant upon a better forecast. regards Paul From: info@mainbrayce.co.uk Sent: Saturday, February 12, 2011 6:22 PM To: PBSBAC Webmaster Subject: Re: Fuel Hi Paul We are hoping to have a pump for this summer but as you can understand the hoops we are trying to jump through are not insignificant! However we can easily either fill your cans or syphon directly onto your boats from ours. We now have much greater capacity. Could you please give us an idea of quantities etc nearer the time. Kind regards Penny Sent from my BlackBerry

  20. Graeme, Pop an email ( or call ) Mainbrayce. They were really helpful when we went over before. We fished and then collected fuel later - just give them your jerry cans to fill up etc. only downside is getting in when there was sufficient water to get in the inner harbour. Mainbrayce PS: I note the raider on the forecourt !
  21. Graham, I went over with Tomo year before last and the chandlers in the harbour got our fuel for us. We gave them our jerry cans and they got them filled while we were fishing. I think they were going to get a storage tank at the time, but well worth asking before hand. Mark Harding (( Alderney Angling ) was enormous help
  22. According to Charlie I am a Veteran of many trips - but I certainly got a sense of adventure gong through the swinge in a 21ft boat

  25. Very impressive. I would be terrified that it would leap onto/at the kayak - would make a real mess.
