  11. The Bream out there now are spawning so try not to take to many, males or females ,they will be done in a month then at least they would have time to further the population! The fisheries are policeing the commercial boys and protecting the stocks This from a sea fisheries website

  14. Hi all I still fish a 20/30 ugly stick with a charter special with 50lb braid, in fact im amazed i haven't snapped it yet!! I have snapped a 30lb class pulling a conger out of a wreck fishing with you Adam! Its seem to take everything I throw at it, 2lb lead full tide cod fishing etc.... full teddy pulling congers out of the iron work, I find the tippy action give the rod plenty of shock absorbing quantity's but its got a bit of grunt in the mid section to oik them up! My other weapon is a 30lb class mustard with a tld 20, its a brute set up heavy and stiff much harder work to play fish than the ugly stick, but will be the rod that wins if I ever hook that real monster eel!! Im think the best rod and reel choice is what you feel most comfortable with, as others have said. James
  15. Hi Alun You did better than us out on the needles we got nothing!!!! well a handful of doggs, next trip wont be chasing cod!! James
  16. Well yesterday was very similar to Aluns Day Tuesday. Big tides that dragged my anchor, away from my favorite spot , then loads of red "glott weed" as I like to call it. but it was far from calm , a rather uncomfortable swell was rolling in from the S/W with a brisk N/W wind on the top made fishing very uncomfortable at times, The "car park" It Wasn't yesterday . I only could see two other boats and they were well out from us and the only other boat about was a trawler that kept going up and down. As for the fishing, slow, loads of dogs, no pout or whiting and the cod seemed finicky, I dropped one half way up, Mark dropped another at the net, then landed one at 9lbs and on gutting marks fish maybe there's a clue why they were not gobbling down the bait, it was stuffed with food! I mean stuffed! A whole good size mackerel was still hanging out of its mouth!(along with marks triple squid bait!) Then it also had a whole flatfish and a whole swimmer crab! Once gutted it only weighed 6lbs! There must be some food down there! James
