Had to post on this thread!, as during the summer nearly all my fishing is at night, I feel I can offer you some advice here. I feel fine out there at night on summer nights, after a few trips and your confidence with your equipment and route builds, its not much different to being out in the day, it never really that dark and on some moon lit nights you can see for miles! fishing can be great too! Pots and nets while traveling are my main concern/ hazzard ! But in the winter I have found night fishing can be a very different experience! the weather can change much quicker, the temp dropps lower quicker, the sea just seems a little more uneasy and the fog/mist can be a pain mainly near the rivers, channel bouys are gone around christchurch and the rivers is normally belting out the harbour. With branches and trees being swept out to sea! Apart from that it is just more eerie in the winter, I feel on edge out there and only go on the best forcasts. I sure the rewards are there to be had just not worth risking sometimes. In the solent or poole harbour would be a lot safer in winter and would be your best bet for a maiden trip! good luck James

Well done to everyone envolved, I really wanted to fish this one ,even booked the day off work. But I over commited myself to fishing sat early in the week with the good forcast and glad I did, I had a good day. That eel would have done well if caught sunday! But the prospect of bringing such a fish back from christchurch to poole alive in the back of my car, if caught in the comp, would have been a nightmare! I would not have wanted to kill such a fish, and I dont have a freezer big enuff! will have to dig the trailer out for next year! Forcast looked better than forcast tho, was thinking of you lot while at my sons football match, Good effort guys. James
-
Thanks guys I have stayed into darkness a couple of times late in the year, but it needs to be a spot on forcast. But as ive found out coming in at night to christchurch in autumn on still nights you get fog banks somtimes freezing fog. no thanks!
-
I saw the forcast today and just had to go out for a try headed straight for the needles along with about 30 other boats and it was busy from the start!............... 2 congers, 35lbs and one about 20, then a lost fish from a screemer! maybe a bass!? then a plump cod of 13lbs Then as the tide build the dredded red weed started. really bad by mid flood and cost me two lost fish! so we moved inshore and Dropped down to a lump of a conger! I got to test out my new kenzaki rod! I like it 53lbs would be good if someone catches him tommorw! then one more cod of 10lbs Great start to the season!

Are you sure your looking at the right sunday?
-
Well done on getting out there and in a yak. looks nice in your photos! Missis and kids were away so I had a pass for the day, looked at the weather and went freshwater fishing instead!
-
Good to see a few Bass about and well done for finding them. Its good to read about catching them, even if I cant get out for them! weather windows and days of work seem hard to come by these days!
-
Good effort guys but where are all the big one's! either you were all having an off day or the trawlers have been busy!
-
Rob My boats on a mooring and my trailer is in storage and cant get it out with out a lot of bother(moveing several cars caravans and trailers and driving a long way!), could only fish from christchurch. Theres a lot of weed in the harbour at the moment tho so fishing lower christchurch and the run would be hard work anyway. Bl@@dy weather! im best off staying in bed! James
-
Blink Weather looks great again! Ive never seen such a change in forcast!! fingers crossed this one sticks
-
