  2. I Know its freshwater but the wethers been crap so after Well over 15 years of trying to catch a barbel..... I did it!! and a nice one to over 10lbs. Ive blanked every time ive been to this spot but have netted them to 13lb for Mark! It was my turn and couln't belive how hard they pull and just like a big old bass
  3. It Was an adventure!, hardly ever get to fish in the day so wanted to do something different! It was a big eel too! and on my heavy gear it was a really strong fish it even went uptide!, strange for an eel! Problem was I was half asleep! The ratchet woke me up and the line parted when it lunged back downtide, my drag was to tight and found a weak spot in the braid........... It will be a spot I fish again! I recon it could throw up a bigg bass or two aswell
  4. Hi All Neap tides, great forcast and a free day to go fishing. Mark and I have always wanted to do some sharking and we have been before on charter boats, so armed with shark traces, huge floats, sack of bran, tub of fish oil, a custom chum bucket, custom chomping stick and wire cutters (just in case we did get one! ) we headed out. well the night before! The plan was to fish out as far as fuel supply would allow(
  5. After we saw you on the ledge, The weather was sunny and flat for us in the afternoon . Well done on those two fish, better than a couple of other boats did out there! We did ok on a mini species hunt with the kids having a great time! team sophie and me and team Ben and Mark. Me and sophie lost , but had the better fish! with 2 plaice, 2 gurnards, bream, pout, macks, wrasse and dogs. Mark and Ben had the less species just more macks! mark also had a cracking plaice, was great fun tho and nice to be out in the day for a change even with the kids! James
  6. Sorry to hear about your anchors! its very snaggy ground on the top of the ledge! Thats a great sole and very rare in daylight! well done! James

  8. Marks got a better camera and just emailed me this pic
  9. Couldnt resist another go out there wednesday eve as it looks like the last window for a while, settled in to the fishing by about 8pm with Mark as crew, bass was the main target but as mark has yet to land one this year! he did his trick of hooking either a large ray or conger on very light gear! lol and landing it! and I think his one out did his 19lbs undulate on a spinning rod!!, He had hooked in to the biggest conger to come aboard Dawn raider ( Tara was the Big conger boat ) and in only 30 ish feet of water! The eel came to the boat with ease to start with. It didnt no it was hooked ................... Then as I saw it and said to mark "thats a bloody big eel" it turned in a mighty thrash and ran down tide like nothing ive ever seen! His face was a picture as he cried "grab the butt pad" his 12lb class rod was flat lined and bending at the butt! Its amazing what these light rods can take and soon it was tamed I lip gaffed it and my berkley 100lb digis finally weighed a fish over 5olbs @53 1/2 lbs with a bit of its tail still on the deck! well done mark great Angling! and a fine inshore conger I got a baby conger and a couple of good sized bass so was another good night
