I know it can all change by Sunday....BUT !! .... having been all over the place for the past couple of days, they are firming up on a horrid looking day, with rain and wind, wind , wind !!.......I see 30 mph and gusts over 40! Will it still be on if this happens?? ...is there a 'reserve' date if not? Alun.

Couldn't beat Rob's 12 lb cracker !!....but I did get 6 bass ...with 5 good ones. My best went 7 lb 9oz [ weighed at home]

If it is of any consolation and support........there seems to be a considerable body of support from RSAs on the other side of the Channel. I've just come back from hols on the Ile d'Oleron on the west coast of France and had a few days at a B&B where the host is a Guide de peche.... a type of chartrer skipper, who takes up to 4 paying guests out on his American T-top sports boat..... targetting 3 different types of bass they have there....about 13-15 mls out...using light gear and weighted jellies\shads. Back at the b&b .....lots of french fishing mags [ much better than ours, with much more info and few ads!!]....and the theme of raising size limits for bass was in all of them !!; with lots of contact with Euro-politics. Their bass fishing has declined significantly over past few years....and pair trawling is seen as the main culprit. Pascal Capitaine operates a min size of 48cms and only allows his paying guests to take 2 bass per trip [ a day with him costs 175 euros...and you have 3 other anglers on board... so I didn't enquire further!!] This time of year their main target is Maigre ... a giant bass... other names include stone bass.....that gets to 2 m in length and 30 Kg..and an hour to land on that tackle!! Shame they don't often this far North! [look them up on Google if interested!!]... but a few small ones have been reported! .......SO ....we are not alone. Alun

Great rods....but I would think a bit too long on a kayak ! I have both and mostly pair them with a little Avet reel......but have found the lighter 6 - 12 good with a Baitrunner for bass and bream fishing. Alun.

Thanks chaps......what a stunning day [makes a pleasant change !!] ..if a bit breezy. Just lighting up the barbie for a family evening. Deb and I had smashing day out in Purbeck.....pub lunch and a long walk over Ballard Down ... fantastic visibilty today; so amazing panorama from the top. Honestly.........I had had worse injuries in the garden with thorns !! I have a little red mark on my pinky, a tingly sore patch but no bruising or swelling. Thanks to Ian for applying the pressing and Adam for the pull.....and it pinged out !! ....don't know where that big hook went to ?? Def think we should demo this at a club evening.....plus ways of doing it solo. The only other time.......I spent a long wait in A&E. I 'm sure a few chicken drumsticks could be pretend fingers ! Back to the fishing...... Amazing day of weather contrasts and fishing contrasts........one wreck with plenty of fish [ albeit not great sizes] and others nearby with nothing.
