  1. I like that idea but need to speak with my insurers first and see if we can increase my coverage beyond 12 miles .... unless you all promise not to sink me till I am within the covered area :-)
  2. I am heading to the Boat Show on Sunday and gonna make my decision whether I mate a new HD head with my existing setup or whether to start again with a complete new BB setup. I am hoping to pick up a bargain from the traders not wanting to take stuff home again after the show. Whatever happens I expect to be radar compliant by Sunday evening :-)
  3. Many thanks Duncan. My 7200 is already wired through a "network hub" with spare outputs so it sounds like this may be a route i should be looking at? What a fantastic source of information this club can be. Worth the membership in information alone. Well done PBSBAC!
  4. I have just realised that my Lowrance 7200c will accept radar reading on t'internet it would seem that it is not Broadband whatever that means?? Does anyone have any info on this? What do i buy and what will i get? or do i need to go broadband?
  5. Went out, water was realtively flat but not as flat as the fishing .... 3 doggies all day nothing to add to my species hunt I'm afraid
  6. It is looking like the windguru site over estimated the winds. Looking at the "Liver weather in Poole" the winds are force 1 with gusts of the same. Game on :-) .... hopefully see ypu out there Mike.
  7. I am out tomorrow for a while. Weather permitting I will head East of Poole.
  8. wowwww I like that V2 card that goes in it. Another couple of hundred quid but rather nice!
  9. With all this talk of fog, I have been looking at this one just today! http://www.mesltd.co.uk/furuno-1715-radar-p-7350.html
  10. Good luck and happy hunting in her Mike. I would have bought her myself if Gordon had been selling her 6 months earlier.
  11. Exactly Rob; My plotter seemed to be doing its job very well, it was ME that was not doing MY job so well. When I looked back at my trail, it was like lots of quite tight S bends!!! I could not beleive how disorientating the fog along with such a slow speed could be. The fact that we "should" be passing Aunt Bessie by now but were actually still in the lee of Rockley didnt help at all.
  12. Both my crew have come down with illnesses so its looking like I am gonna have to miss this one . The window was getting smaller and the rain looked like it would have been a bit of a spoiler anyway
  13. Bitter sweet feeling I am sure Gordon. Hope all goes well for your move.
  14. I bought an almost brand new outboard from Wrasster early part of last year which he had covered the cowling in carpet tape. He had done it purposely to make it look like a "bag of nails" to deter the little urchins from targeting it. Took me an age to get it off!
  15. That window is getting smaller
  16. I will probably be popping to the chandlers tomorrow to get another 10 met length. Not too worried about the crew pulling it in as i normally end up lifting it myself anyway!
  17. I will not purposely go out in fog again. I found it quite scarey although my plotter did seem to keep me something like on direction. It was the fact I could not see anything till i was on top of it that scared me.
  18. I upgraded my anchor setup recently but had to cut it free when I came to grief on my first trip out after upgrading And it looks like someone else has retreaved it Anyway, I struggled to hold the bottom the other day with my remaining 1 met of chain so I am off to the chandlers in the next day or so to get some new chain but thought I would see if anyone on here has any they are looking to get rid of. Obviously I am happy to pay and collect. Many thanks Graham.
  19. I am hoping to be able to get out Thursday if work lets me off for another day ..... probably head over towards Christchurch Ledge or The Needles (depending on sea state)
  20. we were out yesterday too. Big baits ...... no fish. Dropped a smaller bait over the side and we managed 3 whiting, a pout and a doggie. Its still nice to be out tho'
  21. While I agree with you in part, there is a big part of me that is saying it is what the emergency services are for. If it was not for accidents, fate, and/or poor preparation (or a combination of them) there would be no need for the emergency services. John 8:7; Let he who has never sinned cast the first stone. I only say the above because i too needed the emergency services a month or so ago and it wasn't till that moment that I realised just how ill prepared I was,
  22. I can imagine that would have been very scary.
  23. Thank you Mike, I think I fished the spoils (about 3 miles South East of Old Harry) on Tuesday ..... didnt spoil me either
  24. the spoils???? I hear all these names of places but have no idea where any of them are (apart from Poole Patch)!! As you launched from Mudeford I am assuming the Spoils are over towards the Needles?
  25. I suppose if all electronics have gone and there is no way of knowing if you are in a shipping channel or not I would have thought PROCEED VERY SLOWLY would be the the recommendation. I may be wrong and will bow to the experience of others.
