and that's then end of the catch report from the Maverick crew well not quite
Dean and I left Cobbs quay at around 8am. The sea was as flat as the kitchen table....a beautiful morning. Said good morning to Mike Fox and family who were fishing off Brownsea Castle, strange to see people fishing from a sailing boat. Then off we go out of the harbour and looked out to sea. Uuuummmm it looked a little black about 5 miles off, looks like were going to get wet says Dean. We cruise on out at 22 - 24 knots, the nearer we get to our chosen mark the better it looks, by the time we arrived the clouds had all but disappeared. The day then proceeded to get better as it went on in fact it was the best day I have had afloat for a few months.
Now on to the fishing. Dropped our baits in our first chosen mark and got rewarded with doggy after doggy, soon got fed up with that and moved out to another of our winter marks. Well it fished slowly but we ended up with Bass to 4lb, Bream to 2.5lb, Conger straps, Pout, Blonde ray 18.5lb Bullhuss 8lb 12oz and more dogs
All in all a wonderful day afloat with some fish thrown in to amuse us.
How did you do?
