Barracuda species competition
Maverick Martin replied to Maverick Martin's topic in Competition Talk
As an aside I just remembered we used to use club competitions to select a "club champion" who then went forward to represent our club in a national competition organised by Boat Fishing Magazine which was then owned by Jim Whippy. James Parker represented us for a couple of years and won prizes both times. One time he won a 70hp Suzuki (competition sponsors) outboard for himself and £750 for the club. I think it was 2004 the year of the big Asian tsunami. As a club we did not need the money so it was donated to the Tsunami relief fund. On hearing this Suzuki doubled our cheque to £1500 -
Barracuda species competition

We do have competitive anglers within the club so why not have a club team. Life is a competition, some folks are better at it than others, some you win some you lose. I would have no problem with anyone setting up a team but the emphasis would be from my stand point. "them setting it up" as like you Dave I just want to go fishing and chill, I take my stress pills in the week, at the week end I just want chill pills. Lets not over complicate an open competition especially as it's not run by us. -

Be aware this is not a charter boat comp but a private open boat competition so teams can be either friends or maybe a club team if any boat owners are prepared to take out others. -
That's good Brian would there room for the Gazebo I am holding for the club?

Happy birthday Steve (Basshunter) and Jon Parkins
Maverick Martin replied to Stuie's topic in The Lounge
We could Rob but as far as I can see it has to be done manually and is time consuming to do. I could wait until b'days come up then slowly delete but there is not much benefit in doing this other than not wishing them a happy birthday -

Trawlers in the western approaches!
Maverick Martin replied to Kingfisher 126's topic in In The News
I actually don't think the 200 mile limit achieves very much as on the east and southern coast our limit is half way between us and our neighbours. If that did happen yes we would be able to set our own agenda however, would that agenda be more biased towards us or the commercials? Humm I think we need a bigger drum -

So we have been banned from landing any Bass for 6 months whilst commercials can go and rape the sea's of Bass, rubbing salt in the wound they can even catch more than they landed last year. In any other walk of life loading the outcome/benefits available would be seen as an unfair practice and would be made illegal so is it any wonder we all feel like we have been shafted. I don't usually get politically emotional but I am afraid in this case if things are not addressed with a fair resolution I shall vote to leave the eu. This would not only save us billions a year in membership fees but we could also sack all the MEP's as it seems to me they all deserve to lose their jobs. -
Get a couple of tube heaters with thermostats and set to come on below 5deg's

Happy birthday to both of you hope you had a good day, the weather has been fantastic for a change -
So we are banned from landing bass for our own personal consumption but when it suits the authorities we can kill bass and give them to them. Talk about confusing the hell out of the general public. Can anyone tell me where do these people get their logic from?
