  1. We had a triple hook up on AWOL far out to sea only for Martins to let go. We didnt weigh them but I guess Dean's went 10lb.
  2. Nice report James - where abouts is this? Is there a slip for trailered boats? Cheers Rob
  3. Mike I think you've got it AKA a "Long-spined Bullhead \ Long-spined Sea Scorpion". Thanks Rob
  4. Oi - Think you will find that is the deck pattern of a Karnic BlueWater 2460 or similar!!! + I have 2 witnesses and Martin is keen to add it to species total!!!
  5. There is no prize for correct identification. Just the respect and admiration of your fellow club members!!
  6. Popped out yesterday with Martin and Dean on AWOL - my first time aboard. What a great boat with plenty of poke!!! We headed west fo bream but didnt locate any, so headed south to some wrecks for some shad fun. A few pollack in the coolbox and a number of wrecks visited. The weather was amazing and the sea state almost spooky how calm it was. On the way home the sea state worsened the closer inshore we got! I need some help with so fish ID for AWOL's Year long species hunt: It was red and the inside of the mouth and underbelly was very blue! :
  7. thanks tom will have a read so that I have info overload before trying to catch one! Is there a Brill in the second pic?
  8. If you look at the Buoy data here: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/obs.shtml The water temerature to the west of northern france heading to the Dover Straights is 53, 51.6, 48, 47, 46.4. The one between Alderney and home is 48 so hopefully some of that slightly warmer water from the Atlantic will push on through!! Rob
  9. I think that is OK with me - how long do you expect to be there for? Food too? Rob

    Volvo problem

I recently had charging issues on JoJo and thought it was the lighting coil or regulator - everyting was pointing to the regulator after some testing, until I stuck my car's battery in the boat and the charge voltage picked right back up! So if I were you I woudl stick a known good battery in the boat and see if the problems still happen - this is a cheap and easy solution to start with. Rob

    Fuel usage

The check \ swap over your tanks when entering difficult waters is a good one. Especially when entering something like Christchuech Run or the entrance of Poole (Hey Charlie A ). Rob
  21. Mark, Next time when there may be more of us out there leave the anchor on a buoy and call up a club boat. If the're not near buy for immediate help they might just give it a pull on their way back in if you pass on the numbers and description of said buoy. Rob

Nice one Alun, Looked really well done. Shame that the weather and fishing was poor - but then it was "that time of year". Rob

    Fitting radar

I thought I once read that a radar working on a boat will act as a reflector and make that boat show up - though I could well be making this up!!! Or maybe there are different frequencies so maybe you will show up or maybe you won't. Rob

    Need to lurn

Ben - not much to learn on at the moment. Feb is the quietest time fo year and with the cold spell this has spread in to March and possibly will April!! Look out on the forum for requests for crew and join the Club proper!!!! Once the fish come in, offers of a seat or two will come up. Rob
