I fished today with Neal, John and Charlie on Cout Jester. We were all fishing both cod comps, Club and PSAC.
From the off we were in to Whiting and the odd pout. As the tide turned I had a litte bite and gave line and the fish was willing to take the line. After a mo I lifted and off she went, I thought it was a small conger untill Neal saw it and advised it was what we were after. After getting the fish onboard we all thought she was going to go bigger than the 13lb 6.5oz she went! It was the huge belly that fooled us all!
We then had a few whiting and a strap to John but little else for the whole of the flood.
After being dropped off at the Quay to find the Pure Drop (finally I found it), I was the first fish to weigh in and slowly people turned up with fish of various sizes (it made it a long 30 minutes!!!).
The closest fish was only 3oz or so smaller than mine so only a few spats in it (in fact the cod had a few sprats inside and the big belly was all roe). I also found a "Sea Mouse" or two in the stomach - something I had never heard of before -

So a big thanks to Poole Sea Anging Centre for the Comp and Neal and the guys for the fishing.
