Watching this now on bbc2. Long liners are dropping lines 1/2 mile down for black cod. They are stalked by sperm whales, who dive in to the longline as it is pulled up, and snatch off the black cod! Leaving only the heads!!! More and more whales are learning this technique! Brilliant! The longline boat had an automatic baiting machine, one guy loaded sardines / mackerel and the machine diced the fish as a hook was on its way out the boat, attached the disc of bait on the hook perfectly. So easy to lay 1000's of hooks!! Good on the whales I say!!!
