  1. Having recently read this: http://www.planetseafishing.com/features/r...ht-black-bream/ I personally would leave the females, as they have yet to "swap over" to become a male and breed, And one male can look after a group of females, being replaced when he dies / ends up in the cooking pot! Freaky fish.... Dan
  2. Sorry Tom! I posted interest last time, but am driving to france on friday morning!!! Looks like you will have perfect weather for it though! Dan
  3. Cheers for that Rob! Unfortunately thats just before my exams so no point dreaming! Hope you guys get good weather! Dan (actually, i really hope it gets repeatedly delayed until my summer holidays... )

  7. Would it be possible to fix a dagger board on somehow? perhaps not through the middle, but on a bracket at the side? that and a rudder would stop you slipping sideways, and drive forward even faster!! Dan
  8. If you can get owner to pay for the second flight back, Im am most likely available to join you! Weekend or weekday, - whenever there is a weather window! Dan

    Fog Caution!

After being caught in the fog the other day for the cod comp, I dont understand why people end up going round in circles?! Surely you know the direction you were heading / want to head, and use a compass to do so? For example, leaving the Needles, heading on a bearing of 270, you would avoid any problems, such as the shingles, bridge (or the needles themselves if it was really dense fog! ), once traveling on this bearing for a few seconds, gps has no issue showing your direction, and then you can commence following that home as usual? Or am I missing something here... Dan
  13. we were at the needles-ish area, and didnt see the two charter boats either side of us catch anything.... and it sounds the same elsewhere! problem is - its a bank holiday, so the fish are still at home watching xmas tv! Dan
  14. What a slow slow day!!! 3 of us onboard Aqus, decided not to pay for the cod comp (thought
  15. So where are people planning on heading then? East or West? Looks like it will be a bit lumpy out there, after todays winds! See you all out there! Dan
  16. looks awesome Tomo! Good luck selling one, and have fun on the replacement!!! Dan
  17. though i copied from metcheck there, when actually going out, i use windguru for wind normally, metcheck for temperatures, as well as met office radar for rainfall and the inshore forecast...... then try and blend it all together... Dan
  18. BH13 forecast: http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/7days.asp?zipcode=bh13 Southerly 13mph, 9 degrees warm (almost tropical!!!) Oh, and 10.5mm of rain Dan

    Cod rigs

Do you not find that with heavier lines (i am trying with 60lb now) that the 'springiness' of the line opens up the snell? looking on youtube it seems everyone does it a different way.... One that i seem to have just invented by doing it wrong, works by effectively tying a uni knot, around the shank of the hook, with about 6 turns - dont know the strength of it though... Dan
  20. After seeing reports of all the conger being landed while fishing for cod, i was wondering what strength hook-length people use? I have some 60lb, wondering if this is enough... Dan
  21. Still good to be out though Tom! and at least you got something for the table, even if it wasnt the cod you hoped for! Hopefully we will have better luck tomorrow! Dan
  22. enjoy!
  23. anyone???
  24. Weather and tides look okay for a trip out on Monday the 13th, just wondering if anyone else is planning to go out and wants to buddy up / meet out there? Just got back from uni, so eager to go out after seeing all these reports of Big Big cod!!! is the south of the Needles still the place to go? Dan
  25. Hey all! havent posted for a while! Im back home from uni for a long weekend, if i get a chance to go out on the boat, what is about at the moment? Seen a few reports of rays on here - would that be off the banks? and Cod are starting to show on the WSF forum - much around the poole area? Cheers all, hopefully ill see someone out there! Dan
