  1. We are going out on Wednesday, with the intention to drift for bass over the Shingles, however, as we get closer, were starting to think that that area will be a bit too dangerous with the wind / tide that are forecast! (big Ebbing springs) Are there any other areas that you would go to around there, for when the shingles are too rough? Never fished much further than X-Ray in that direction, so dont know whats over there! Or are there any better ideas / species i should be looking at targeting instead for this time of year? (we are coming out of Poole) Cheers for any help! Dan

  5. As the title says, does anyone know anything about fishing from a boat in sardinia and corsica? will be going there on holiday at the end of the month, and hope to wet a line and catch something of decent proportions!!! Ive seen a few videos online about jigging for dentex, what type of ground would this be over? and does anyone know anything else that may help? other species? its not been the easiest thing to search on the web - only a couple of charter boats in southern sardinia (we will be in the north...) come up on google, and theyre not exactly going to give me their marks!!! Cheers for any help guys! Dan
  6. cheers charlie! ill let everyone know how we get on when we get back tomorrow!!! Dan
  7. Will do, if you change plans before hand, drop me a text on 07957919180, though thats pretty much useless mid channel! Would the RIPS be drifted to fish, in a similar fashion to the BS bank? - hopper rigs with a shad? And with the wrecks, could i be cheeky and nab a number? The admiralty chart weve got is perfect for navigating, but not exactly good for finding a wreck!!! And again, would this be fished like the BS grounds, with a shad on hopper rig? ... havent done much wrecking before, only a few drifts past the fuel barge off anvil point, only managing a pout and too many snags! Cheers for the help Dan
  8. Hey all, planning to head out to the Brittle Star banks on Friday the 25th, taking full advantage of the calm weather and long, hot days! Provisionally planning to head out about 8am if anyone would like to meet up? other than that, ill be keeping an ear open on Ch.6 - just call for Aqus, the blue hulled Merry Fisher 625 Also, could anyone give a hint or two as to where to head if the banks are not fishing too well?? I dont know of any other marks in that area, and its a long way to go with only one plan!!! Cheers guys! Dan
  9. Where are you Launching from Paul? Were heading out to the cod grounds with the hope of a repeat of last year success, if you want to buddy boat? Definitely makes it a bit safer way out there! Dan

  12. Dunking the camera under.... could have at least jumped in with them tom! that would have been proper dedication!!! Tope is definitely something i want to add to the species list - they look immense fighters!!! Dan
  13. On closer inspection of photos, dad now suspects it to be a Salmon... based on this description, would you agree? : Concave tail, jaw line not behind eye, few spots below lateral line Dan
  14. The Joys of Lenton.... Kimbolton - most burgled street 3 times the national burglary rate most robbed cash point in the uk... Perfect for students! haha I should be back to bournemouth soon, for a bit of Brittlestar codding especially if the weather stays like this!!! What did you Study?
  15. Oli, im in sherwood hall atm doing economics, but moving to a house in Lenton next year! I wasnt even aware you could catch them around here!!! Haha Dan
  16. I didnt believe Dad when he told me... thought they were taking the piss and got it from tesco or something! Didnt even realise you could catch them outside the harbour! And yes olli - first year at nottingham uni! Dan
  17. Unfortunately, I didnt catch it - Dad or my brother did (not members) - im still stuck in Nottingham, a few hundred miles away from the action!! It would be interesting to know the specimen size, i couldn't find it on the internet... Dan
  18. Thanks! I was trying to compare it to photos on google, and that was the closest i could get to an ID, just wanted to be sure, before putting it on the species list!!!! Cheers Dan
  19. Dad had a pretty unexpected catch today on Aqus... and something i cant quite ID.... Its either a Sea Trout or Salmon... just not sure which! Anyone? Dan
  20. Cheers guys! the confusion was through the slightly different colour, and looking a bit thinner than normal! Not a new one for the species list then Dan
  21. anyone??
  22. Dad caught this today, and sent me a photo of it... im not too sure what it is? From the photo, it looks too slim to be a pout... im thinking perhaps a poor cod? :S Dan
  23. after a quick trip to wessex angling, weve settled for a Shimano Hyperloop 6000, which sounds more like a time machine than a fishing reel.... Kept it simple, with front drag, no baitrunner system to corrode up in the salt water! And a nice new rod to go with it Cheers for the help guys! Dan
  24. A lot of them seem to be used by guys carping... so no salt water there! Need to have a proper browse on ebay - just dont want one thats all shiny on the outside, only to have corroded internals!!! Dan
