Hi Trev I might be wrong but a auto pilot just needs the GPS position to steer the boat the direction required. So why not try connecting this lead to the VHF radio? Worth a try Coddy

Hi A lot depends on what length the cable has to be, what current draw is required to start the engine. Is it an outboard or inboard, petrol, diesel? What size capacity are the batteries? Normally I would go as big a size as possible but it can get to silly thickness. Most cable is give in diameter for thickness, the minimum is what you already have unless it is showing signs of the plastic covering has started to melt! Sorry I can not be more help at the moment Coddy

Hi Alun Sat in my car having my late lunch watching you fishing and then watched as you came back in. Was trying to meet you on the slip but I had a phone call which lasted 48 mins so was too late to catch you. Glad you managed to get out and it wasn't too rough. Saw some small yachties get stuck on the bars as they tried to cut inside the buoys! Forgot it was half term/Easter break so wondered why so many kids about at first. Coddy

When do they re-install all the channel markers up the river and through the run? I thought they were layed out before Easter. Lets hope that they carry out a depth survey at the same time to get some dredging done as I think it will be interesting come Easter with boats starting to go out. Coddy

Hi Martin If I understand it correctly the MMSI number is registerd to the boat and not the owner. You need to contact the radio authority to advise them change of ownership, purchase an new radio licience and contact the coastguard on form SG66 wich is available on line at Coastguard CG66 Form This should be all you need to do. If the radio is from another craft, the original owner has changed his/her radio, then you will need to return the radio back to the manufacture for them to re-set the MMSI and you need to apply for a new number. Now I might have this totaly wrong but have a word with your Coastguard or the radio authority and they will advise you. Why not register on this forum and join in the banter and humor? Don't worry Jack, This is my second summer in Dorset and I hope to be trying those blanking numbers again this year. Also my globe trotting days have been reduced this year so I hope to get out when the weather improves, more often esppecially after work. Coddy

You can't beat a mackie session for kids. They hold the rod and feel the fish going crazy if you have a small string of 2 or 3. If nothing else they enjoy watching them come aboard flapping everywhere and stops them feeling sick or board. Coddy

Paul Last time I was down there they had increased the car park charges AND included the trailer as a seperate charge! WHat gets me is that you can park the trailer and car in one space, one of the van/lorry spaces but they expect x2 payments! Coddy
