A husband and wife are sitting quietly in bed reading when the wife looks over at him and asks the question.... WIFE: "What would you do if I died? Would you get married again?" HUSBAND: "Definitely not!" WIFE: "Why not? Don't you like being married?" HUSBAND: "Of course I do." WIFE: "Then why wouldn't you remarry?" HUSBAND: "Okay, okay, I'd get married again." WIFE: "You would?" (with a hurt look) HUSBAND: (makes audible groan) WIFE: "Would you live in our house?" HUSBAND: "Sure; it's a great house." WIFE: "Would you sleep with her in our bed?" HUSBAND: "Where else would we sleep?" WIFE: "Would you let her drive my car?" HUSBAND: "Probably; it is almost new." WIFE: "Would you replace my pictures with hers?" HUSBAND: "That would seem like the proper thing to do." WIFE: "Would you give her my jewelry?" HUSBAND: "No, I'm sure she'd want her own." WIFE: "Would she use my golf clubs?" HUSBAND: "No, she's left-handed." WIFE: -- silence -- HUSBAND: "shit" Coddy

Mark If you want to check out 150's see my web page via my sig. Fuel would be about 5 - 6 mpg with WOT (Wide Open Throttle) maybe less! A lot depends on sea state, tides, load etc. If you allow 25 miles per 5 galls that should give you something to start with. Allways allow 1/3rd out, 1/3 back and 1/3 reserve. Coddy

Well what can I say except that I am still very much learning to find fish. Launched with the others at Weymouth and after a slightly delayed start, headed out to the Shambles on a nice smooth sea. Drifted a few times and Bill managed to pick up a plaice, small but sizable. We watched a charter boat drift by and go and catch a nice turbot right near us! After a few more drifts of nothing we headed inshore to Portland for wrasse but they seemed elusive as well but did managed to pick up a nice sized edible crab. Went around to the Hood which was empty of boats and tried a few drifts in almost slack water with no takes so we dropped the pick and cast towards the wreck. I picked up a pout and lost some gear. Bill picked up a tompot blenny but these don't count. Soon all the other boats headed towards us and we watched Bob play with the cable accross the entrance. Headed off towards the slip to recover the boat before everyone else. Nice day to be afloat but shame about the fish not wanting to play. As I say I am still very much learning the area so do not worry about any competition from me. Coddy (Member of the Jack fishless club)

Hi Bob I was thinking that some might turn the switch with the engine still running. That's all It would safeguard any possible expensive repairs. Coddy

Hi Bob Thanks for the reminder, however one question With the feed to the switch panel/+ve buz bar, if the switch is in the OFF mode, all the power from the outboard will be through anything that is switched on. My concirn is that it "could" be excesive and cause more damage to your electronics, lights etc. I would prefer to have supply feed direct from a battery and NOT from the COMMON conection. I accept that one battery could fail but at least you can select BOTH batteries and start the engine and it would supply a feed to both batteries BUT smoothes the supply down to a suitable voltage. Just my thoughts Coddy

Well done to you both. Seems the day off work was worth while. You will be after that bigger boat now Adam to search those more distance wrecks. Well done again Coddy

Good news Andy C-Map have only just updated the charts (Feb-March 2006) so at least with a new one you will be bang up to date. Would recomend the Wide version then that covers both sides of the IOW, Selsey down to the other side of Portland. Just need to find the fish now. Coddy

Hi Trev It all depends if you are going to trailer her or leave he in water. An alternative I would propose, is to clean her anti-foul completely and use 2 part epoxy. This would then seal the GRP and help against osmosis and give you a smooth finish. Also adds a bit of value to the boat, downside is it is quite hard work and needs to be done in one day with good weather available. Just my thoughts Coddy

I too use two cable ties A friend of mine has a Mitchell 31 with a plough anchor and also uses cable ties if that helps. Coddy

Hi all Managed to blagg another days fishing on Saturday except went down to Weymouth this time. I had just launched on the town slip when Martin & Dean turned up. Thanks for the parking tip Martin. My crewman was Bill again and we were both looking forward to our first trip to the Shambles. Well made it out of the harbour and the lumps & bumps started but managed 12 to 15kts. I have to admit I followed a charter boat to find a start drift location. Well after a couple of drifts of nothing we tried one very very long drift and still nothing and were using 12oz lead to try to feel bottom. On this drift Bill was not too well and fell asleep holding his rod! By this time I too had enough of being bounced around and slack water was just starting so I uped the drag weight and started heading in after a quick call on the radio to Martin let him know where we had gone. Went into Portland harbour to some calm water Dropped anchor to try for some fish but again nothing so a quick drift over the Hood a couple of times but still nothing! Nice to meet Lady Jane and crew (hi Andy) We then thought we would try drifting for Bass in the entrance of Portland but again none about and the Portland Harbour guy came over and asked if we had purchased a ticket to enter the harbour. Well managed to get out at last from Christchurch. We followed Fugazi in to Wick slip at about 8.00am Paul D was already there with the ex "Great White" crew. Soon launched and off down the the river looking forward to a good days fishing. Nice to see all the buoys laid out up/down the river marking the channel nicely. Out over the bar with no problems, wekk it was 1.5hrs before high tide. We, Neo, Marine Boy, Sammy & Fugazi, all decided to follow each other out to Christchurch ledge. It was some what choppy and after looking down in the bottom of the boat I deal feel a little quessy. This soon passed off and I did manage to ease out a Ballan Wrasse but that was all. Bill, my crew mate, did not get a bite! As we did not have much luck we all decided to move, Bill and I had had enough of being bounced around so headed inshore to Boscombe and join some charters and private boats driftting for place or anything! Again as nothing showed he headed back in to catch the tide. Unfortunatly I managed to catch the bar again on the way in and damaged the prop a bit! So good to be out but only one fish! Looking forward to tomorrow when we are heading for Weymouth. Coddy
