  1. Hi, May I suggest someone contact the Weymouth fishing shops and Fladen who are also based in Weymouth I believe. WHilst I have my thinking cap on what about Wessex or Pain flares? Just a suggestion which may have already be thought of. Regards Coddy
  2. Hi all I am not sure if some of you heard but a fishing boat got into difficulties on Saturday. A friend of mine was out near by and heard everything, below is his words of how things happened. Now I have taken the VHF exam an I am sure my heart would quicken some what if I was in the same position. To help combat this I have printed out a Mayday card and laminated it and stuck it on the console so that anyone using the radio knows exactly what to say and how to say it. Even if it was me that was unable to make that call. I always show everyone on the boat how to use the radio especially when it is on dual watch. You are unable to send in this mode!!! What would you do in this situation? Have you prepared for this? Do you carry wooden plugs? It is a bit of a distance out at the Needles? Coddy

    Boat Storeage

Hi All Well we are due to move down to West Moors on 19th November (we hope to have a house to rent by then) The only problem is I don't think I will have enough room to store the boat if this house falls through as well and we have to take our second option! So, can anyone advise where I can store the boat on the trailer, have easy access to take it out and is cheap!!! I have one contact at East Stoke but that is some distance to travel each time but I do know it is fairly secure. Pehaps you know somewhere better? Regards Coddy
  6. I can see I am going to have to stalk you when I move down! Problem is I expect the FPO will have a list of jobs as long as the boat It has been 2 months since I last went out fishing and on the boat Regards Coddy 2 weeks to go to the move

  13. That happens a lot with Seagull engines if they are mounted too low, all down to back pressure. Just put your hand (or foot) over the exhaust of your car and wait a few minutes and the engine will stop. Regards Coddy ps You could always ask your worst enemy to try it with his/her mouth
  14. Thanks Alan I now know what it looks like if I every get one. Coddy

  16. Hi all I am in the market for a replacement floatation suit Question is do I go for a one piece or 2? I have a two piece which is convienant but with the winter about to start would it be better (safer) with a one piece? I am looking at the Fladen floatation/immersion suits as I think this gives the best of both worlds at a reasonable price. Coddy

  20. Hi all Well we have got some temporary accommodation now in Warmwell. Nice and cheap, thank goodness but due to an Estate Agents cock up they lost a house we put an offer on so it is back to the drawing board. At least we have decided on an area but finding a suitable property that we can afford is a nightmare!!! Thanks to everyone you helped with suggestions it was most helpful. We think we are due to move down on the week-end of 13th Nov so I will miss the November club meeting but hope to come to the Christmas bash and put faces to the names. Thanks again everyone Regards Coddy
  21. Hi Superm Check out my web site for what others think about their equipment. At least if will give you a start http://fishing_boats.tripod.com/ It is always worth checking Ebay for gear as it can save you some money if it is all there and working. Regards Coddy
  22. Hi Charlie The reverse applies for a diesel, my car engine is a 1.9 turbo and produces 125+ bhp but revs up to 4500 rpm, boat engines seem to be huge for a modest bhp but the revs are much lower. I suppose it all come down to torque in the end. Coddy
  23. Well done on the purchase I hope you get some record fish aboard her Next expense is to make sure she is fitted out with all your safety needs. Good luck and I hope you have hours of pleasure ................ and fishing Regards Coddy
  24. Hi Billyboy Sounds like you ended up with a very reasonable day but what is a "Bandfish"? Never heard of one of those. As I am about to move down that way, in temp accomadation, any tips for marks in Portland harbour apart from the Hood, would be very helpful. I have launched at the public slip a few times but never been able to get out far due to weather conditions or crew feeling ill. Regards Coddy
