Saw this on Facebook and checked it out http://www.airsearescue441.com/ If you want to watch it in the Solent look here http://www.classicboat.co.uk/news/ww2-air-...a-jubilee-boat/ Would not want to know the fuel consumption when flat out however! I think the originals use to have Rolls Royce Merlin engines marinised! Petrol powered with superchargers, twin engines as well - Ouch! Dave

If any of you are thinking of adding AIS to your boat, have a look at Standard Horizon VHF radio's, thier model available is GX2150 It has a built in a AIS reciever which when connected to your Chart Plotter will show up on the plotter as well as the radio. These new sets also have the ability to add waypoints and marks similar to your plotter. It does not transmit your position as it is only a receiver but well worth a view if you wanted to upgrade. Their web page for morre info is http://www.standardhorizon.com/indexVS.cfm...=3&isArchived=0 Thought this might be useful to some Dave

Paul Is there the possibility to add a page for the boat species which does not use my web site page as an import? There is no hurry but I thought it may be good to keep it all in house so to speak. It would also be good just in case my hosting company goes belly up. I would of course need admin rights to keep it updated. Dave

Great news for you and the others Well done the boys in blue! Dave

There is (was) a chap in Weymouth who is (was) still trying to get permission to sink a ship in Weymouth Bay/Chesil area as all the WW2 wrecks have broken up and not a lot is left. Seems he has (had) plenty of support except from the council and the Green people You need planning permission not sure who from but I expect it would be the Crown as I think they own the sea bed of our borders. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Weymouth and Portland Wreck to Reef Ltd is the non-profit community group behind the push to obtain permissions to source and to sink a ship as an artificial reef at a location to the east of Weymouth and Portland. The general national decline within the diving industry has been exacerbated in Weymouth and Portland by three things, the sinking of HMS Scylla in Plymouth, the building of an accessible launching facility in West-Bay at Bridport, and a ban on diving the HMS Hood in Portland Harbour, this for safety reasons. Drawing on the experiences and the resulting benefits of previous man made artificial reefs, notably in Plymouth but also around the world, it is believed that this project will help redress the economic down-turn within our diving industry. However, since the inception of this Idea late in 2008 it has become apparent to all involved, that the complexity of a project of this nature needs the involvement and support of all the statutory authorities who would have an interest in this. This in turn has led to the Idea that rather than go to all this effort in order to sink a single ship, for a single section of the marine industry, it would make more sense to broaden the thing out and aim to secure an area of seabed that could be set-aside for numerous artificial reefs; a sanctuary of artificial reefs. It is proposed that this seabed area be

Well done Lofty Some great pictures as usual, can a mod add them to the front page to add a bit of fishing on show? Dave

I can see we will be all "saddled" with these jokes as people have got the "bit" between the teeth on this topic unless someone "reins" it in! Sorry but it seems the "maine" area of attraction for jokes in the last couple of days! Dave

I have a few reports on my web site http://www.fishing-boats.info Look in the menu for over 19ft boats Dave

If anyone is interested, I have attached a copy of the current list of Boat Record Fish caught in the Angling Trust Wessex Region. The only thing I have got to get checked out is that fish caught at sea, should be included as a measure of conservation. This may interest those who are more specimen fish oriented rather that species hunting. Thought it may bring a little more interest to your fishing Dave

Hi Mick As a thought could you mount a new (cheap) through hull transducer and then have a switched unit so you can select either transducer. Just need to make up a switch box or leave the original one in there and connect up the through hull model on a permanent basis haveing once found the best position on the hull. You could just try out a transom version stuck down working through the hull to see if it works ok first. Bluetack or similar is good to find best position on a trial & error basis. Dave
