  1. Suggest you get through on 07:30 lift if launching at Cobbs Marina and sign in at Poole Sea Angling by mooring up on the Quay for a short time or drop off your crew person to sign in whilst hanging around on the water. I would have thought that you would make it under with a Raider but depends how much you have bolted on the roof! Dave

Hi and welcome to the club Why not come to the club meeting this Thursday at the Trades & Labour Club, Ashley Road, Parkstone (next to the Esso garage) starts at 8pm and I am sure people will start talking to you and giving advice or hints that you may require. Hope to see you there Dave
  6. Hi Stuart Yes thats the one, I went for the 2Mb user card to make sure I could keep marks, routes & waypoints as a back-up. Dave
  7. From what I have read on other forums the Standard Horizon has good reports and excellent customer care. Re C-Maps I had them in my Navman and found they worked well. I also have the PC reader so I can play around at home on the PC looking at possible fishy spots etc. You will also need a user card if you go along the same lines, so you can transfer way-points and marks from the home PC to plotter. You may well be able to use the C-Map NT+MAX cards which show even more detail! Dave

Agree with previous comments Whilst you have the ability to communicate do so at the earliest time. You can always cancel Mayday/Pan Pan when things are under control. Well done in not panicking "Mr Mannering" Dave

  16. Just as a point of interest on all rays, if you see the edges of their wings turning pink/red this indicates that they are under stress and should be released as soon as possible. I learnt this from one some time ago from one of the masters of ray fishing, Davy Holt of Common Skate fame. Dave

    A few local Pics

Rob You better not call it a "toy" plane near the owner! Use to fly radio control planes before I got into sea fishing and calling the planes "toys" made everyone see red. Some planes cost in excess of
  18. Hi Lofty When added species to your listing just put in or out of club waters as we have two lists running. Nothing to stop you catching the same species in or out of club waters and adding it to the listings. Dave

  21. It is not illegal to obtain cockles from Poole harbour. We were talking to the IFCA (ex Sea Fisheries) Officer at a recent PDSAA meeting and they are aware of these people and the problems going on around the harbour. The price of cockles have risen sharply recently and now worth the trouble to obtain them and they have to come close in at high tide to get them. In fact it seems that the cockle population is very good at the moment and getting better due to the collection of them. Someone suggested that there was a by-law or similar that all commercial fishing had to be a certain distance away from moorings but this has yet to be confirmed. Just thought I would pass on a bit of info before people jump to conclusions which could be wrong. Dave
  22. Well done George, bet that put a bend in that rod! A fish to remember and an aim to beat your new PB Look forward to the pictures Dave
  23. Many many years ago I came accross basking sharks!! This was before the film Jaws and yes I was in a small self-driven open boat. It always looks very fishy around some of the coves. Have a good time Dave
