  2. Hi Chris At the end of the day the fish don't care what rod and reel you have, this is down to personal choice and being able to detect bites. Obviously you don't want a reel to fall apart on you as you reel in your biggest ever fish, it most cases as long as you give a good wash down of the gear it should last a while. To my mind the end gear is the most important bit, good sharp hooks, line be it braid or mono suitable for the fish targeted or ground you are fishing on, and rigs. I have still got to work on the bait presentation bit myself but I am sure this is what makes a good days fishing to a blank day. I have been on trips where there have been some very experienced fishermen of well known names and watched them send special rigs and methods of presentation which they then pick up fish when all around are blanking. In the end it comes down to what you like the feel of and how you trust your gear plus of course budget. Why not see if you can try a few rods and reels out as I am sure many would happily lend you a rod or reel. Just my thoughts Coddy

  4. Hi folks, Slightly off subject, but as this is an INTERNET based fishing list it has relevance, and in any case follows on from issues raised re Article 47... Cheers, Coddy They are watching you. As of two weeks ago, a European Union directive came into force that required all internet service providers (ISPs) to keep records of emails sent, and internet phone calls made, by their customers. In other words, if you send an email to someone, your ISP is obliged to keep a record of who you are, to whom you sent the message, their ISP, and so on. Similar rules are in place for mobile and landline phone calls, and for internet telephony services such as Skype. The ISPs didn't want this. They fought for years against it, saying that their job shouldn't include that of policemen. All this data retention (as it's officially known) is being done for the sake of gathering evidence in future criminal investigations. People arrested for serious crimes are likely to find their computers taken away in sealed plastic bags, and forensically examined for fingerprints-the physical and the digital kind. Opponents say this vast database will be open to abuse. In theory, it can be accessed by people in local authorities, committees and quangos. So where does it leave you and me? In practice, almost all of this data was being collected by the ISPs in the first place-they needed it to make the service work. What's different is that it is now being stored and made searchable. What's most galling is that this is EU-imposed legislation, has not been voted on-or even discussed formally-in Parliament. To find out more about campaigns against the directive, and other aspects of digital rights, check out the Open Rights Group at www.openrightsgroup.org

  8. Hi all I hope you all are taking your cameras as we could do with some new pictures of club members boats. On a safety note, it looks like if there will be a number of club boats out let alone some of the rag & stick brigade. (Sorry Mike ) Please keep a good eye out for boats using you as a transit point and keep a listen on channel 16 + 6, most VHF sets have dual watch. If you feel something is not right don't take any chances, a fish is not worth risking life or boat for. If you need help do give a call out for any PBSBC members and I am sure someone will respond. Take care and enjoy the day, I am looking forward to seeing the reports so don't forget to print off a score sheet, get one here http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/score.xls Coddy
  9. Hi Mick Welcome to the club and enjoy the banter. Suggest you ask as many questions as you like, might not get the right answer but may start an interesting thread. Jump in and enjoy Coddy

    Help Please

Hi Craig Just a simple question, but why not carry out the service yourself? It is not hard to do as all you really need is a good trolley jack, axel stands, waterproof grease and grease gun plus a few spanners and odd tools. If you want a copy of the users handbook for Roller Coaster trailers i will have a look on the hard drive as I did have a copy scaned somewhere. If you need a hand I would be willing to help out at a week-end, as I tend to stay away during the week due to work. Coddy
  14. Hi all Don't forget to alter the time clock on the forum board. To do this - Go to My Controls, top right of this page Then on the Menu, left side of page click on Board Settings Put a tick in box which says "Is daylight saving in effect?" Then click box at bottom "Change my account options" That's it, it should now read the correct time you leave a message. Coddy
