  1. The forecast for the Easter weekend looks spanking!! A decent sized tide, clear sunny skies, warm and light winds for most of the week! I'll be there on Friday morning bright and early at Weymouth
  2. Thanks Guys!! Had a good day thanks, esp. as it fell on a sunny sunday. Best pressie - 60l Icey Tek cool box for the new boat from the wife to be!!

    Radar

Graham, Yes, I agree for night fishing could be helpful, however in a small boat the MK1 eyeball can be just as effective. Do you have a plotter on the boat? If so, I would say this is much more essential - if you do have a plotter AND room for the radar then a good move IMO.

    Radar

Graham, Do you really need it? Not being rude, but in a 16' boat I just wonder how likey you are to need it? Do you regulary fish in shipping channels, in all weathers? Personally, I find that I could have used a radar about 3 times a year out of say 60 trips, so about 5%. Unless you have got it for a mega cheap price, I would suggest the room on the boat could be better used. A radar reflector is a cheap, efficiant way of making your boat better seen and takes up next to no room. Adam
  5. Like wot Duncan does:
  6. Nice one Tom - as Martin says, better than a day in the office! I was tempted to go out today, if I had known I'd have come and joined you - mind you it was bitter in the wind today and the rain wasnt nice, wonder how the others got on with Shogun??
  7. Found this on the net: http://www.findafishingboat.com/downloads/...ofSalev-1-2.pdf Handy if you are selling your vessel, simply download and print off, for an official MCA Bill of Sale.
  8. N5, small tides and rain all day....I'm no expert but I would have thought last Friday would have offered the best chance? Have a good day chaps, I'll be thinking of you (not jealous at all!! )

    Pioner Boats

I seem to recall reading a review a few years back in BFM. If you want to read the article (baised as they always are) I'll scan it for you. http://www.fym.co.uk/pioner%20boats.htm Are these the plastic boats? I would think they would make an ideal lightweight, tough and durable boat for dragging along the beach and fishing your coastline mike. BTW - what's wrong with the little Orkney you have/had??

  12. Jas, Sorry mate - only just picked up your post, a bit late now as the boat isnt ready and I have made work plans for 2moro....I know where I'd rather be. Will you be down on your boat? Adam
  13. Just got back to my PC... The forecast tomorrow is for 0% cloud cover, smooth seas, F1-2 and 18c!!!! As Gordon says, either plaice fishing on the Shambles or (preferably) offshore wrecking. Let me know....
  14. Soounds right re. my set-up bob, havent got my mmsi in at the moment so havent checked, but it should work in theory. Question: Ofcom sent me a load of bumf on my lifetime licence, however I'm unsure what to do, is my MMSI linked to this? I've obviosuly sold BW now which is what the old licence was linked to and the the MMSI, or an I getting confused? So do I need a new licence, or just a new MMSI and to apply for my lifetime licence?? ...if all that makes sense??
  15. Gord, Ive never seen a vhf handset holder that encompases the whole mic... Icom use a basic clip holder and Ive never had one fall out - the one that Silva supplied with yours seems crap and is very flimsey. I may have a spare Icom one somewhere, failing that why not give them a call and see if they'll supply one?
  16. I see the theory Coddy, but the worst fishing last year was when the water was gin clear! I think that a little bit of algae bloom is good so slightly greenish but pretty clear is ok, muddy and stormy is not so good.

  18. Well, we decided to go to Weymouth after all, being ever the optimists!! The sun was out, but a brisk NE and 3c air temp made it feel like codding weather, not spring plaice fishing! Out of the harbour conditions were not nice, so very quickly plan B sprung into action and we scarpered over to Ringstead out of the wind. Much like Duncan's foray, we had dropped on the kennels, so after and hour we upped sticks and headed round to the East a few miles. Much nicer here and bites from the off. Enticer opted to fish a little further offshore. On OotB We had a fantastic days fishing: Rays (Spotted and T/Back) to 12lb 12oz, conger to 20lb, 2 bass to 5lb, bream to 2lb, plaice, several bull huss to 8lb, smoothound, doggies, pout, and wrasse. Delightful fishing too - never needed more than 6oz all day and fished with light plaice rods. OotB performed well for her first proper outing and cruised smoothly through the nasty chop, and returned a miserly peformance on fuel, certianly no more than BW.
  19. Tyvek?? We sell this - a modern hi-tek equivelent to underfelt on a roof - a kind of 'gore-tex' for your roof.... a good choice for the tape material...
  20. We did it 4 years ago when I wrote the 1st article for BFM. It turned out to be a lovely sunny day, but blew a F8+!! We had about a dozen boats of all shapes and sizes and got some cracking shots between the 5/6 cameras on the boats - the photos are way out of date now, so would be good to do again.
  21. The weather window has closed again! Now forecast is for 15 knots on Sat and 6' waves - not good. Like Martin, Ill be making a decision on Friday PM. Not too sure I can handle another weekend fishing the Swash Channel!

Of course I can. I phoned before I left and they had sold out, but a new delivery is coming in later this week and they will call me when it arrives. I'll let you know once I have it.
  23. Well done Jas - nice boat and I'm sure you'll get to grips with her quickly. Best of luck. PS: What's her name?
