  1. Duncan can I please borrow the anchor and chain, West Quay doesn't do chain and they won't be able to get chain till Wednesday.
  2. They are 60p a lb, I'll just bunk them in a bag and weigh them. Billy, if your friend want large quantity and the bloke said you can go to Brixham and buy it by the box. They have lots of them over there. I'll by at Cobbs at around 7:30 and for those who are not launching there, I'll pop over to Baiter at around 8:00.
  3. Bob, how many would you like? (Mixed sizes, some are large and some are fist sized) Anyone want any please let me know by Sat night and I'll have them packed for Sunday.
  4. The best price I can get the squids for is more or less the same as Talbots. I now have the cuttlefish, all 40 of them, if anyone wants any let me know and I'll bring them down on Sunday.
  5. Metcheck forecast 15 miles southerly (and rain) for the Isle of Wight on Sunday could be interesting
  6. Paul, I'll give West Quay a ring in the morning, since they are one of the sponsors. If they haven't any in stock, I'll give you a ring before lunch. Duncan, if I get no joys with either, can I borrow the 7.5 from you, please? Cheers everyone.
  7. Looking at the prediction I think it ain't gonna be a big tide. From what I read about the beasties around the spoils ground, we won't be needing any bait fish, just use a 10 lb cod as bait .....
  8. The rod at the back ground is a bass rod, I used it for whiting. The yellow trace mono is a 60lb (I think) I got it from the front cover of one of the fishing mag for nothing. My tackles are a little sparse, I only have a 20-30 boat rod, an up-tider and a tele spinning rod, even the bass rod is my missus' . I like the congers and I might invest in a set of heavier gear....
  9. for me for Sunday please? I'd lost my anchor and chain on Tuesday. Somehow the D shackle broke and all I got back was the rope down to the eyelet. If anyone can pick up a 5kg galvanised bruce/claw and about 20' of chain for Sunday please let me know and I'll sort the cost on on sunday morning. Thanks in advance.
  10. Can you let me know and if you are fishing on sunday, I'll bring them down. If not I'll bring them down and hand them to whoever you can get to take them off me.
  11. I would love to say I landed the fish on a 12lb light rod with a 20 lb trace, small hook and took half and hour to bring it to the boat, but in reality, I was using a 7' 20-30lb boat rod with a 20kg braid and 60 lb mono trace. It took me just under 10 mins to land the fish, had to keep talking to myself, not to rush it, let the clutch do all the work, wear the fish down..... I did everything John Wilson, Matt haynes, Paul Young said. (The missus didn't know I hooked into a fish and thought I'd gone ga-ga talking to myself ).
  12. That's what the gloves are for, they kept my hands slime free.

    Sunday comp

In that case I'll put you down then ..... We can sort out the details later.
  14. Anyone available to crew, please? P.S Don't expect I have any marks tho, I'll just follow Adam or James...
  15. Not much damage to the hull I hope, well done and sounded fun (except the scraping bit)
  16. Make sure it's not 'Made in China', if it is, you will only be able to hear Chinese ....
  17. The 501 is a 17 (?) footer and I don't think you will have any problems using the disco. Lymington is also good, but they make a charge for it, I think it's a tenner for under 100hp, although parking is free in the winter.

    Needle ledge

I think it must be the bridge, or whichever is running 'straight' off the Needles westward. I should have taking a gps reading of it but the exciting just overwhelmed me.
  19. I know for a fact I can get the 1 pound block for a

    Re Rich

I take it you'll be out of action for a while then?
  21. I know the rule of the comp is 2 rods 2 hooks (no more than one hook per rod). Are we allowed to use feathers or paternosters to catch smaller bait fish?
  22. I bet it won't go for less than
  23. I've order 40 cuttle for tomorrow, let me know if you guys want more and I'll see if I can get more. I'll freeze them individually and bring the down on Sunday. Will uou have somewhere to keep them while you're out fishing?

    Needle ledge

How deep is needle ledge at low water? I was returning via it at lw yesterday, I know I wouldn't have any problem going over it ( I remember coming over it in a chartered boat once in similar condition), but the way the water cascading over it just made me chickened out and took the long way round .
