  1. Word of warning .......RATS Be very careful what you put in the garden.
  2. I have never eaten huss until last week, I went into a chippy and order huss and chip. Didn't like it much, it was ok I suppose but I don't think I'll ordering it again in a hurry.
  3. I'm interested too, so what rig and tackle did you use?
  4. No too fuzzy where just want to get out.
  5. Depending on weather, I'm thinking of going out to south of the needle. Anyone interested?

    Pennell rig

A string of squids counts as one bait, right?

    Pennell rig

When I use the pennell rig I like to tie the top hook rather then using a sleeve, is this allow?

    AC/DC 12v????

Don't go to B&Q they will charge a fortune. Try someone like Wilts or John Cribbs. They are trade suppliers and will charge a lot less. What's more, if you take the lights with you they will be able to tell you which one to get.
  9. Well done to all. Wishing the forum do even better in the coming year.

    Boat Storeage

maybe we should all pop over after the comp for entertainments.....
  11. Would be interesting, especially if we can post drawing of rigs which we found to be catching fish.

    rigs

On one of the BFM last year they did a (fairly) comprehensive range of rigs, I'll see if I can dig it out. It was very interesting, some of them I haven't even heard off..... Or maybe, guys, have you secret rigs you wanna share with the rest of us?
  13. Alan, I think Adam use Baiter a lot, since his boat is the same as yours, there shouldn't be any problems using it, except maybe at very low water.
  14. Aww..... Cobbs Quay, lovely slip, it wide and gradient is slight so launch and retrieve is easy. Unlike the Davies boat yard next door (which I thought was Cobbs ...... ), couldn't fault it other than the slip's gradient is fairly steep (you'd need a powerful car to get the boat and trailer back up), it costs less than Cobbs and there's even a plontoon for loading unloading.
  15. It's one thing being able to use the VHF in the confort of the classroom or in a sunday day out in the Solent, with light weterly wind no waves, calm as you like ...... and being ankle deep in water, rods everywhere, lines, kids running around screaming and you shouting for the missus to make sure the kids have the lifejacket (they should have already, but just make sure) and they know how to use the pull string shall the auto fail to work. and worryingly, is the battery clear of the water? I suppose if we practise the drill time and time again then it will make the actual event much less exciting (or panicking ....lol)
  16. Saw one advertised 2nd hand, bonus being it includes 2 southern charts. Is it any good or not?

    training

Some schools will only do the course on their boats while some will do it on any boats. The advantage of using your own boat is that it WILL BE about your boat and it will be 100% applicable to your boat, however, it tends to cost more if you use your own boat, reason being the instructer will have only you as trainee while if they use their boat they need a minimum of 2/3 to keep the cost down. I am thinking of doing the L2 early next year, cos I found a school which will do it in a 1 day (instead of the normal 2 days) course provided you have 1 year boating experience.

    Hi Sean

A good buch here, just ask any questions and they will try to help the best they can. I've only just started myself, and looking forward to getting out there. Welcome.

    RNLI appeal

Got one of these thru the letter box this morning. I never knew it was a viluntary organisation wholly dependent on donation. Needless to say my donation is on the way and a member from now on.

    dogfish

Weymouth isn't that far and some of us here go down there fairly often. I, myself is from North Hampshire and it takes me 1 1/2hr to poole towing the boat. I will try to take part in some of the comp if and when time allows.

    Cod are in

Well done JB, it shouldn't come as a surprise it's you who get the first cod .....
  24. Saw a pair of cod caught in the solent just under the 10 lb mark. Have the cods made an appearance over at Poole (or even around the needle)?
