    Bad Back

Jack, if you are standing up while fighting a large fish, your legs and your lower back are doing a lot of the work, is there anyway you can fit some sort of a chair on you boat to take the strain off your back?

    Bad Back

When I was in Norway, I met a chap call Ronnie, he's over 70 and he had all sorts of gadgets with him on his tool belt etc. He fashioned a clip which go round the rod just above the reel seat, and he then clips the harness onto it. It worked as he caught a 16lb coalfish.
  8. I have 2 small chest freezer, free to good home. Pick up from Andover or I do go into Soton from time to time which I can drop off.

    Tuesday 13

Apparently the marks are not very good for congers in the summer, but good for bass tho. Something to do with congers searching for food further from their holes in winter.
  12. What's that, 70? 80?
  13. Seen it a few times, but why are the 4 outter outboards have longer shafts than the inner ones?

    Boat Rod

There are some combo rods out there which you can use as downtide as well as uptide and they are in the 20-30 class whcih will cover most of the fishing. As to whether thay are worth it, it's a personally matter. If you enjoy using it then it's worth it
  17. I was taught 2 different technique on bassing. The first use small lead and let it bounce way way behind the boat (Pat Carlin) and the second use enough lead so that the lure is just below and behind the boat, where you feel every 'ding dong' with the seabed, holds it there until connect with a fish. I like the second way and have had much more success with it, this is where sometime 12oz comes in.
  18. Isn't it easily fixed by increasing mesh size?
  19. On some occasion fishing the race/banks for bass, condition dictates that lead has to be 10 or even 12 oz. As I fish more, I just want to go lighter and lighter, as my confidence (or stupidity ) grows, I just wanna see how light I can go before it's breaks..........
  20. What I really want is a light (6lb rating?) rod which can handles 10oz (even 12oz) lead when drifting for bass. Am I asking for too much?

    Boat Launching

There should be 2 videos from youtube.
  22. Ventnor is fishing well at the moment. My customer caught over 20 plaice last week.
  23. Spot on, agree 100%. Never used mine for wrecking cos I'm a lazy sob, just don't like the work rate. I found it great for bassing using shad in Portland tho.
  24. Yes, the Accurate is smoother but also
  25. I've been using the Avet SX reel for about a year now, fantastic little reel. Size of a tld5 but 22 lbs of max drag. I used it for bassing in the race with a solid carbon rod, even for some heavier congering to 45lbs, it's so smooth. Costs less than a ton but on par on quality with the little Accurate reel which costs 3 times.
