  1. Hi Derek It's Coddy's site, Here
  2. Hi Derek On my previous boat I had a "1, Both, 2" switch. I've just fitted a second battery to MegaByte, this time I've used a Voltage Sensitive Relay. This way I've got a "Starting" battery and a "Services" battery (which runs radio, GPS F/F and lights). The advantage is I don't have to remember to switch from one to the other or both. When the engine starts as soon as the altenator voltage rises to 13.7 volts the relay cuts in and both batteries get a charge, when I stop the engine and the voltage drops to 12.8 the relay cuts out. I bought the relay from: Merlin Equipment Ltd Unit 4 Cabot Business Village Holyrood Close Poole BH17 7BA 01202 69 79 79
  3. Yep. We used to spend every Sunday morning working on my dad's cars. If you were going as far as Southampton, you'd spend the week preparing.
  4. It helped. Sad thing is I've driven most of the older ones.

There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...please feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if the Managing Director shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1.00 p.m. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over

I was out today, stayed in the harbour, tried several places and blanked. It was really cold and I've only just thawed out.

    Adopt a terrorist

I think they are onto something with this! More Governments should also adopt similar tactics... Take a minute to read this... its quite humorous!! A lady Canadian libertarian wrote a lot of letters to the government, complaining about the treatment of captive insurgents (terrorists) being held in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities. She received back the following reply: National Defence Headquarters MGen George R. Pearkes Bldg, 15 NT 101 Colonel By Drive Ottawa, ON K1A 0K2 Canada Dear Concerned Citizen, Thank you for your recent letter expressing your profound concern of treatment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists captured by Canadian Forces who were subsequently transferred to the Afghanistan Government and are currently being held by Afghan officials in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities. Our administration takes these matters seriously and your opinions were heard loud and clear here in Ottawa . You will be pleased to learn, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself; we are creating a new department here at the Department of National Defence, to be called 'Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers' program, or L.A.R.K. for short. In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to divert one terrorist and place him in your personal care. Your personal detainee has been selected and is scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence in Toronto next Monday. Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud (you can just call him Ahmed) is to be cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your letter of complaint. It will likely be necessary for you to hire some assistant caretakers.. We will conduct weekly inspections to ensure that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with those you so strongly recommend in your letter. Although Ahmed is a sociopath and extremely violent, we hope that your sensitivity to what you described as his 'attitudinal problem' will help him overcome these character flaws. Perhaps you are correct in describing these problems as mere cultural differences. We understand that you plan to offer counseling and home schooling. Your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or nail clippers. We advise that you do not ask him to demonstrate these skills at your next yoga group. He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those items locked up, unless (in your opinion) this might offend him. Ahmed will not wish to interact with you or your daughters (except sexually) since he views females as a subhuman form of property. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him and he has been known to show violent tendencies around women who fail to comply with the new dress code that he will recommend as more appropriate attire. I'm sure you will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the burka over time. Just remember that it is all part of 'respecting his culture and religious beliefs' as described in your letter. Thanks again for your concern. We truly appreciate it when folks like you keep us informed of the proper way to do our job and care for our fellow man. You take good care of Ahmed and remember we'll be watching. Good luck and God bless you. Cordially, Gordon O'Connor Minister of National Defence

Alun You're right, Monday does look good, I think I'll have to have a day fishing. I might try the spoil ground to see if there are any whiting about.
  16. Dave This photo shows a Rear Swinging Cradle, it swings down as the bow is pulled into it and keeps the boat aligned as it's winched on.

    Three little ducks

Three little ducks go into a Bar.............................. "Say, what's your name?" the bartender asked the first duck. "Huey," was the reply. "How's your day been, Huey?" "Great. Lovely day. Had a ball. Been in and out of puddles all day. What else could a duck want?" said Huey. "Oh. That's nice," said the bartender. He turned to the second duck, "Hi, and what's your name?" "Dewey," came the answer from duck number two. "So how's your day been, Dewey! ?" he asked. "Great. Lovely day. I've had a ball too. Been in and out of puddles all day myself. What else could a duck want?" The bartender turned to the third duck and said, "So, you must be Louie?" "No," she said, batting her eyelashes. "My name is Puddles."

    Monday

Got to take a friend out tomorrow for a bit of flounder fishing, besides I haven't been out for 10 days, so will be somewhere in Poole harbour, if anyone else is out give me a call, I'll be listening on channels 16 and 6.
  22. I wonder what they mean by "significant impact". The number of fish I catch would make zero impact. Eu Purge
  23. There's always a way around the problem. Nice one Paul
  24. You've been told correctly. Max speed for a full displacement hull is approx: = Y x (SQRT waterline length) Where Y = a constant, ( 1.3 to 1.5 ) = 1.5 x (SQRT of 17) = 1.5 x 4.12 = 6 knts Approx. For more speed another boat is the answer.
