    Window Glass

I want to change the wheelhouse on my boat which will mean replacing all the glass. I enquired at Dorset Glass on Nuffield Estate, they can supply Toughened safety glass to any shape (I'm going for 6mm), all you need do is provide a template (the old windows, hardboard etc).
  4. What a good tip, I'm going to do the same.
  5. Mine says "Don't switch through the OFF position with the engine running". It's ok to switch from 1 to Both to 2, as it "makes before breaks", so is never open circuit.

    New Tackle Shop

Is it going to be in the empty Newsagents? If so it looks a bit small.
  7. Merry Christmas Everybody, hope to see you on the water in 2009.

Gordon Have you tried local Steel Stockholders?
  9. I've added my comments, although I can't see tem yet, I assume there's a delay.
  10. Licence, Satelite tracking etc. I think I'll be priced out considering the few fish I catch anyway. I can't really justify the cost now.

    steaming

It's probably insufficient water being injected into the exhaust to cool it enough. Check your raw water flow, possible causes of reduced flow are: 1. Blocked raw water strainer. 2. Damaged impeller. 3. Blockage in the heat exchanger. 4. Blockage in the oil cooler. If raw water cooled, ignore step 3.
  13. I've just bought my son-in-law a Garmin 140 for christmas. Got it on line from Marine Scene GARMIN 140 FISHFINDER
  14. From the back, the underwater profile look about the same as mine. What's the displacement? About 1.5 tonne at a guess, which would be about 86hp per tonne. Less than 50hp per tonne planning will be difficult, at 64hp per tonne planning should be easy, so unless she displaces more than 2 tonnes she should plane easily. 1. Is your engine running right? 2. Are you getting max revs? 3. Is all the weight at the back?
  15. I use black International Interspeed Ultra on the hull and white Trilux on the outdrive, trim tabs and waterline. My reasoning for the black is that, all growth needs sunlight so the less light reflected about under the boat the less growth, well that's my theory. launched June 2005 took it out Sept 2008, over 3 years afloat and only a thin brown slime to pressure wash off, but then I'm moored at Wareham in fresh water.
  16. Also worth painting the backplate with Hammerite before applying the grease.

    Speed

Mike By "Main Channel" do you mean Middle Ship Channel? If so the restriction is relaxed during the winter. From PHC. "The Speed limit of 10 knots is applicable throughout the year, but is relaxed in the Wareham Channel, Middle Ship and North Channels only between 1 October and 31 March".

Hi Derek Good to hear it went well, did you use the dinghy? Brian

    Horns

Hi Dave I now use the handheld type, I've had "marine" electric air horns in the past and they've corroded. Though I'm thinking about fitting plastic "FIAM" air horns the same as on my vehicle.
  21. I wonder how a 1 mile ban would affect the Oyster and Mussell industry in Poole Harbour, because that's commercial fishing. I feel the petition should target nets and trawling within 1 mile of the coast. I can't see that a blanket 1 mile ban has any hope, though it would clear the lobster pots from close to the beaches.

    Anti-foul

I keep my boat at Wareham, which although tidal is fresh water, I applied black International Interspeed Ultra with white Trilux to the outdrive and boot topping in June 2005. I've just brought the boat home after 3 years afloat and all it had on the hull and outdrive was a thin coat of slime. As for anodes, I've got zinc ones fitted which go black in fresh water and don't really do much but I've not noticed any corrosion so I'm not worried. I've been told that magnesium anodes are recommended for fresh water, but as I use the boat in salt water they probably wouldn't last five minutes.

Looks like you'll need a shovel rather than a scrapper!!

    Rod Holders

"The Range" Turbary Retail Park, Ringwood Road, Poole. were doing these when I was in there a few weeks ago.
  25. When you consider that Poole is the second largest natural harbour in the world, it's got to be worst as far as slipways and other facilities. Poole council would obviously rather provide holiday homes for London Yuppies, than launch facilities for locals. I'll get back in my box now!!!
